Re: Emigration to Spain

Is this a new concession then?
I thought that under the WA Brits already living in the EU as early retirees are entitled to an S1 when they reach state retirement age, but the UK will not issue S1s...

Re: help with mutuelle

I don't think anyone would dispute that.
But it's still an individual choice as to what level of mutelle cover you decide to take out, or even whether to take any out at all.
As dmu says, emergency...

Re: help with mutuelle

Absolutely. My point was just that everyone makes their own decisions - what seems a no-brainer to one person, might not be what the next person would choose.
My brother always kept fit, in fact he...

Re: help with mutuelle

As others have said, nobody else can really help you with what you need. They can tell you what they feel they need, but it's a personal thing - depends on your state of health, your attitude to...

Re: Tax return trauma

I wonder if the reason that this date of opening accounts thing is a problem is that most banks record it with your account details but UK banks don't. I haven't checked my profile on Crédit Ag but...

Re: Proof of residence in France for a child

Since nobody else has come up with an idea - surely a dependant child is regarded by the law as living wherever their parent/guardian lives. Dependant being the key word. A child is not independant,...

Re: Has anyone received the Brexit carte de séjour yet?

You're unlikely to ever be asked to show it when you're out and about Tweedie, except when you're entering France from abroad.
When you're most likely to need it is if you have to enter the number...

Re: Transiting through France during Covid

As dmu says. If you have your attestations filled out for long distance travel and you can satisfy the gendarmes that you're not French citizens nor French residents nor visitng/staying in France,...

Re: Lynda150's question about long term visas

I believe the new ETIAS system is supposed to come online in 2022, which should simplify things. Hopefully it will keep to schedule this time, so just this year that folks will have to muddle...

Re: Working In France As A British Subject

Wow, that would be the most fantastic project to be involved with!

Unfortunately, if you're not an EU citizen you don't have the automatic right to work in France. French and EU artisans must...

Re: Has anyone received the Brexit carte de séjour yet?

Wow - and you time-travelled forward to next December to fill the form in LOL.
I presume you applied online in 12/2020?
That's not bad.
I applied online in November 2019, yes 2019. Still waiting...

Re: Advice please

Which two taxes do you mean?
If you're asking about the notaire fee + disbursements, there are websites where you can enter the details of the purchase and get the approx cost of the transaction....

Re: Advice please

Just so that you are aware - under French law, children are responsible for paying the costs of their parent's residential care if the parent is unable to fund it themselves. It's not like the UK...

Hello peeps
Thanks Tweedie. Thanks Bob. Thanks everyone.
Ouf, it was too much excitement for me at my age. Now I need to go and lie down in a dark room now.
I'll come back and chat tomorrow...

Re: Petition to stay in EU for 180 days

I still haven't really grasped why people are feeling so victimised.
If you want to visit Spain for longer than 90/180, all you need is a Schengen visa which is easy to get. I guess the difference...

Re: Petition to stay in EU for 180 days

.

I don't follow you.
It's the UK that ruled out any continuation of freedom of movement, and I don't see any likelihood of the UK reopening negotiations on it.
