Don't bother with machines.

Learn correct form on the 'Big 3' - Bench press, squats and deadlifts. 3 sets of 8 reps around 70% of your 1RM (one rep max)

Increase the weight incrementally each...

Notarisation of documents does vary fee wise. I haggled around the local solicitors offering these services and believe I paid around 60 quid or so, to get my degree attested.

If you're finding it difficult to not have a drink, how about switch to something low calorie? Instead of beer, go for a G&T etc.

If you make many small changes, it will have a cumulative effect.
