Re: USA vs UK healthcare - physician perspective

Regarding the doctor "shortage," isn't it partly due to the fact that the number of funded medical residency placements are limited? Also isn't it the case that more doctors are opting to be...

Re: Is it really impossible to relocate as a qualified teacher?

I'm told private schools actually tend to pay worse.

Re: Houston Neighbourhoods and Estate Agent?

I live in Cypress and like it. Katy is fine too, just seems to have less trees. They are both huge. I have a friend whose husband is an expat that lives in Lakes on Eldridge North, which I've heard...

Re: Have an 02 but want a H1B - how likely?

It doesn't hurt to at least apply.

Re: NYC Elementary Schools

Maybe look at the United Nations International School? Quite expensive but just thought to put it out there.

Re: former teachers and lecturers - what work do you do now?

Community colleges are typically the first two years of university, so they do have many students that have completed high school. They just have entry level courses that one would typically take in...

Re: E2 Dependant is not UK National

I got my H1 and H4 stamped in London two separate times, when I was not living there. Unless your situation is specific to the E2 or that getting visas stamped where you don't reside is no longer...

Re: How much experience did you have before getting a L Visa?

Not really. Unless I don’t know what senior management is. An AVP at a global bank is nowhere near senior management and got an L-1A. It’s executive or managerial.

Re: How much experience did you have before getting a L Visa?

Regarding H-1s, things are getting harder now, but it’s all sort of degrees as long as your employer is willing to sponsor. It’s easier to find a sponsoring employer with certain degrees,...

Re: i140 premium processing or not

Whenever available, I typically suggest using premium processing. I don't know if it's true that it results in more RFEs. It's just better to me because job situations change and a response is...

Re: How much experience did you have before getting a L Visa?

FYI, H-1Bs don't require far more experience. Some people get it right after undergrad/grad school.

Re: Medical & interview (Green Card) - Any advice?

Rete, there are non-immigrant (H1, L1, O1 and such) and immigrant (EB1-5) employment based visas. I think your confusion stems from the fact that most employers don't offer the immigrant employment...

Re: Employment-based preferences class (for GC)

The October 2018 visa bulletin actually shows EB2 as current and EB1 isn't.

Re: Employment-based preferences class (for GC)

It's not automatic that you'll be EB1 because you're on an L1-A visa.

Re: Criminal Record attempting to visit/work/live in USA

I agree. That's how I read it as well. Isn't the question asking if you've been arrested for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government...

Re: H-1B visa expiration questions...

1. The H-1B would remain valid unless your employer took the steps to notify USCIS to cancel it. My husband and I used our H-1B and H4 to come back to the US for a quick trip, after we had been...

Re: School vaccinations- potential problem!

Our doctor did the same. Just marked on the records that my son had chicken pox already. I registered my son for school last week and as we went over the records, I just told them the UK doesn't give...

Re: 403(b) retirement plan

I hear you. Hopefully you get your EAD soon. Applying is okay but you have to do what you're comfortable with.

Re: 403(b) retirement plan

The volunteering issue is true. You don't want to volunteer in a position that someone else could be paid for. So it makes sense to just steer clear of volunteering.

Re: 403(b) retirement plan

Interesting! Never heard of this. Why does USCIS expedite EADs for some individuals, if they should not have applied for jobs beforehand then? How exactly would USCIS know one applies for a job...

Re: 403(b) retirement plan

Why don't you just apply for the jobs? Who knows how long the recruiting process will take or how long it'll take for you to get your EAD? What's the harm in applying exactly?

Re: 403(b) retirement plan

You certainly don't have to wait until you have your EAD in hand. You just can't work until you have it. Yes, it won't always work out the way it did for Maste, but it just might. There is nothing...

Re: Uncapped H1-B and unmarried - at the moment!

I didn't say each employer applies for a capped H1. I said a new employer can apply for a capped H1 for the OP. So the OP can get an uncapped H1 now, but if an employer that is subject to the cap...
