Anyone sailed from Brooklyn on QM2, stayed in a hotel with dog?

I am trying to find a pet friendly hotel in Brooklyn near the Cruise Terminal to stay at the night before our voyage (June). Obviously don't want anywhere seedy as it will be just me and my daughter....

I wonder though if I would have to get it now before I leave, as I have Permanent Resident Status, or can you also apply later on when you are hear visiting for example? It costs $600 a the moment...

I did talk to Cunard already and I requested a sample menu, so I could see what kind of foods they serve. The only things they provide for diabetics are low carb and low sugar - which are really not...
