Re: Cold Feet about moving/Boston

If you're going to be living in Boston, why not have look at working for the Commonwealth? They're pretty good employers and once you're in, it's almost impossible to get fired! Certainly, if you're...

Re: Teen going back to UK University - Home or International student?

No. Not really. International students pay significantly more in fees than home students in the UK and are eligible for little, if any, financial support.

I can imagine that given the costs of...

Re: Teen going back to UK University - Home or International student?

Re: Teen going back to UK University - Home or International student?

As I recall, to be classed as a 'home' student, they need to have been 'normally resident' in the UK for three years prior to the first day of their course. Otherwise they're classed as an...

Re: Documenting foreign travel for Natz interview without stamps on passport

They can also look up when you left the country. When I did my interview I had messed a couple of the dates of trips up and the officer asked, "Did you mean to put xxx date?".

Re: Moving to Boston

I don't live in Boston, but work on the Common. Subway access is key. I would suggest that, unless your work has private, reserved parking that you don't bother thinking about driving into central...

Re: Moving back to the US after 12 years in UK

This! This, for god's sake, this! If you're going to make the move, then just swallow the expense and get another passport in case you decide - for whatever reason - to move back to the UK.

I can...

Re: Everyone back home whining about the weather

I chuckle at what friends back home are muttering, but then remember how it felt with houses without AC and just not being used to it!

Re: Sumbit' rattler rennum frumfer - the critter thread

Met a coyote once taking the dog for a walk in the Massachusetts woods - about a week after we got here. That was a real you're-not-in-North-Wales-any-more moment. And a bear wandered out of the...

Re: So expensive to rent a car

On a similar-but-different note, does anyone's US car insurance cover them driving a car overseas?

Ours covers us for hire cars in the US and Canada but not further afield and when we need to get...

Naturalized!

Well I guess that's me done. In a somewhat chaotic and disorganized ceremony in the picturesque city of Lowell, I joined the blue-passport-brigade today.

Although I tend to subscribe to Groucho...

Re: N400 - the interview, the oath and status

Fabulous! That was what I was hoping for.

As long as I have my green card I feel like I have a fighting chance of getting back into the country.

Hopefully I'll be able to schedule an oath...

N400 - the interview, the oath and status

Hi folks,

I received my interview letter this week for my citizenship interview/tests.

With my usual luck, the interview is eight days before the family and I go up to Canada for a week...

Thanks Ian. I'd forgotten about the I-865. Very much looking forward to not having to deal with USCIS again!

Re: N400 and change of address

Unfortunately that ship has sailed - the package went in the mail last week!

I'm not too concerned about the addresses themselves - our current address is my wife's parents (hence why we're...

N400 and change of address

Hi folks,

We're hoping to close on our first house here in the US later this month (fingers crossed!). Of course this will be just a coupe of weeks after filing my N400.

As I understand it, if...

One more question: I'm trying to work out the fee for filling. I downloaded one check sheet last week that gave the fee as $680 and another today that listed the fee as $725.

I'm assuming the...

Re: N-400 application. Attorney or not?

Just make sure you download the right copy of the form!

I'm completing mine, got all the way through and on a whim decided to check the USCIS website. Sure enough, there was a new version dated...
