Re: Election

I liked the idea of a more "equal" society and a fresher set of legs voted Labour and then got immediate buyer's remorse.
I keep reading the Left wing press and all I hear is the top end of town and...

Re: Guilt of leaving behind your parents

Not much to worry about Sir:
Jeremy Corben : [if he managed things better] could be PM at some point - as Shorten could well be the next AU PM.

Re: I have put too much oil in my engine?

If you need to drain, draining is as easy as you say..it will come out very quickly when warm or hot and initially spray sideways - get a oil tray? You can buy ones that close and become a container.

re: I have put too much oil in my engine?

too much oil can be worse than it being on low side. The oil can get whipped up a bit (not good mechanic speak). Lots of cars burn a bit of oil. Oil can head to the bottom of the range and not...

Re: UK HGV LICENSE

I got a HR license in WA, about 16 years ago, in about 3 days from memory. My UK license got transferred to a Car license easily enough in a few hours of sitting around the local RTA - and then I...

Re: Australia. Real Future or Banana State in Making?

He didn't - he also, like you, interpreted Horne rather more correctly than has been over the years.

Some possibles would be climate, resources, modern, clean, well appointed and vibrant cities.
I...

Re: Terrorism in Melbourne

Hard to follow some of that, but I agree with your first general point that people can be somewhat rudderless. You mentioned a philosophy originally, a higher calling.
I think that religion, or the...

Re: The world of automation

Sure the tech works, but commonsense tells you regulation does need to solve a lot of issues and make sense of inevitable problems first - that is what will take time

Sure, aeroplanes operate in...

Re: Coles have reversed their plastic bags decision, will start handing them out

We go to Aldi and then top up at Safeway/Woolies. Both co-located, so you could almost walk, providing you haven't got your arms full...

Re: What’s the current situation like for car mechanics in Aus?

An engine replacement is a big repair, to be fair - but I do know locals who do replace engines if the car is new enough to make it economically viable, or is a favourite like a larger wagon or 4x4....

Re: Coles have reversed their plastic bags decision, will start handing them out

Any 2 dollar coin would be found and used by the time I'd get to it :-) It's also remembering to fetch it from the car as most of my stops are ones where I am moving fast. Most of the time, I'm only...

Re: Coles have reversed their plastic bags decision, will start handing them out

it is almost as if I like making it hard. Have never been very good at domestic rituals.

With a trolley you'd have to make the trip back to the shop to return it. I...

Re: Coles have reversed their plastic bags decision, will start handing them out

I struggle in Aldi as I forget bags and the disc to free up a trolley. Always forget. Always.

Luckily, i have developed the circus skills of a juggler and can carry 20 items in 2 hands and offload...

Re: Is it still worth moving to Perth in 2019?

Re: Officer, Berwick, Pakenham

I am sure suburban living on a nice estate might suit. Some of the estates have got more cramped in recent years.

But...
