Re: What has p*ssed you off today...part II

They pack for you here in Australia too, most of them are really good at it and would definitely be Tetris champions.

It was weird going on holiday back in the UK last year when we ventured into...

Re: Pingy Pongy

Our eldest had just turned 16 when we came over and had done his first year of GCSE study. Of course, we moved initially to Queensland where everything was a year earlier, but he did year 11 and 12...

Re: Advice/sympathy/slap in the head - all welcome (long/heavy post)

I just want to add, as someone who has been there with the depression, and who has seen alcoholism in others - procrastination is often elevated to an art form. It's also super easy to fall into the...

Re: Me and My Family

I'm so sorry, but that is Scamming 101 and it looks like it has been successful.

Re: Advice/sympathy/slap in the head - all welcome (long/heavy post)

I'm not going to be much help on the practical side (except to say that many gps will take depression seriously and will put you on a care plan, so you're bulk billed etc... please do go and see one)...

Re: He's back!

I'm not sure if I'm just arse sensitive at the moment but that reminded me of my friend. He's undergoing treatment for colon and liver cancer and has had a (hopefully) temporary colostomy. I asked...

Re: WTF back in the UK

My grandmother used to call me Wayne.
You'd think she'd have managed her only (at the time) granddaughter's name but no, through all the grandchildren's names would she go.

Re: Driving around Australia

This bloke (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-11-04/man-cycles-round-australia-in-record-time/3626614) cycled around Australia in just under 38 days - he probably didn't stop to take in any of the...

Re: What has p*ssed you off today...part II

TheVileEx's mother contracted measles just before he was born. It caused him to permanently lose the hearing in his right ear (I never went into the details, but presumably he developed an inner ear...

Re: Guilt of leaving behind your parents

Just thinking outside the box... you could always leave your reluctant teen with your mum and step-dad - two problems sorted for the price of one! :)

I wouldn't know about travelling distances and times to Sydney CBD, but when I go down to our local Costco, I drive through areas with large plots, north of Castlereagh, south of Windsor Downs,...

Re: Guilt of leaving behind your parents

Some parents are particularly skilled at piling on the guilt.
I disconnected the router this Christmas after Mr Dreamy's mother was sobbing down the camera, singing along to "It'll be lonely this...

Re: What made you smile today? Part III

Mr Dreamy usually works from home on a Friday but had to go in today for a "must attend" meeting. So I was already grumpy at losing an hour in bed.

It's also still dark at 6am when we leave for...

Re: Quiz on NY Times to analyse UK/Irish accents

This put me slap bang in the middle of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, with some NW England and North Wales bits (the original in-laws influence is strong, padwan)

I would like to make it clear that I'm not...

Re: Me and My Family

Given some of the causes of cervicitis, it might be an idea for you to get checked out too - if it is caused by an STI, you wouldn't want to keep reinfecting each other. Hope the diagnosis is shown...
