Re: Poluted beaches

This was last year: Spain fined 12 million euros for the lack of sewage treatment facilities, including in Malaga province
On Wednesday, the court found that Spain has failed to comply fully,...

Re: Truck driving kiwi partner, what area to settle in and are we too old?

I know most Brits never consider it but Republic of Ireland is certainly an option for people wanting the boring NZ life with a bit more action. Of course NI is also Britain but I do find the...

Re: Househunting near Dublin

There seems to be many credits and reliefs, so I think it's more down to the fact that there just aren't enough purpose built apartments. Rent a room relief is another thing they added, so they can...

Re: Buying a property in Spain. What are the pitfalls? Where's best?

As far as I can read is that the OP isn't looking for loads of land and has no intention to live in the middle of nowhere. He's just looking for 1,000 sq MTRS land for small animals.
A property...

Re: Buying a property in Spain. What are the pitfalls? Where's best?

With animals it will be very difficult to find rental and then expect to pay at least €900 for the type of property they want. I suppose it depends what age they are, might be personal preference, so...

Re: Buying a property in Spain. What are the pitfalls? Where's best?

We bought land ourselves and don't live in Spain. We didn't have much cash anyway, so our idea was always to buy land when the prices were low and place a modular home on the land at later stage but...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Not originally (although also Irish routes) but now live in Ireland. Moved from the UK nearly 10 years ago.

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Like the UK there are many variations and just depends where you are really, so not more or less. There are so many micro climates and it can change from location to location. A city like Dublin...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Just saying, as you can probably bring thousands of examples where property is cheaper and how many times do you go to the theatre or musuem if you live in the city directly? I think the OP doesn't...

Re: Builder Moving to Toulouse

I don't know many people who were happy in France with very little French to be honest. I often pass Toulouse when we drive down to Spain and the countryside is not very different, so unless you are...

Re: Househunting near Dublin

Finding work is not the problem, even here in the West. Even when I was in the UK or Germany over 10 years ago it wasn't easy to find housing to rent.
We spent a few weeks in a hotel, or had to...

Re: Househunting near Dublin

I can assure you that it's still the same or even worse. Maybe the EU should follow this model https://www.euractiv.com/section/economy-jobs/news/solutions-from-vienna-to-address-eu-housing-crisis/...

Re: Advice Needed

But if it's a very touristic area, wouldn't there be enough hotels around? I would have also thought that B&B's are mainly used by people who drive and stay for a night or 2 and then move on. ...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

Ok, so even worse then. While it's not the trees just the general position and size of properties vs garden size. There's actually some good interactive maps people can try to simulate shade and sun...

Re: Best relocation areas in the UK?

The problem with that property is that you probably won't see much of the sun in the garden, as it's blocked by the trees? So even if London might be on paper warmer, the person near Manchester with...

Re: Costing of Living - Income vs Expenditure

Unfortunately £1500 is pretty normal for a lot of people in the UK after tax. Give or take a few hundred but many would be happy to take home 2K and if you check on Reed for Cornwall area:

Re: Anyone moved back from NZ to the Lake District UK?

You're welcome. Not sure about cost of living compared to other places, but I've heard a lot of positive things from the Isle of Man and I suppose it's a good mix of everything (England, Ireland,...

Re: Anyone moved back from NZ to the Lake District UK?

Not at all. Based on your post that you want to be close to family (not too close) and hate big cities, but still want life and a dog friendly place:-).
