Re: Decades of denial:Major report finds NZs environment is in serious trouble

The whole world is ****ed. Too many people, the large majority of those people do not care enough to make changes. Our generation will be OK, the young ones I'm not so sure!

Re: Missing home

Oh dear! I can't offer much in the way of advice, only a few sympathies. I've been to Timaru twice in my life and that was more than enough. I really think it's one of the dullest places not only in...

Re: Why did you move to New Zealand?

We came here on holiday, liked what we saw then decided to give it a go. Fancied an adventure so thought why not? We were young (still are hopefully!) with not much to lose. Happy here, not remotely...

Re: Personal wills

I could have written this! We're in the same boat. No kids but have nieces and nephews. Thing is they will get a decent chunk of inheritance from grandparents when they pop off so I sort of feel like...

Re: Job offer in ChCh & asked to move in 3 months from UK

It all depends on what standard of living you want. My salary is not too different, I have a partner but if I was single I would say it would be more than sufficient. It would likely get me a decent...

Re: Job offer in ChCh & asked to move in 3 months from UK

Well not off topic really as you asked is it worth giving up your dog among other things to move to a place that doesn't seem all it's cracked up to be now that your partner is here. So my answer to...

Re: Job offer in Wellington

As a young single bloke you'll be absolutely fine on that salary. Depending on your lifestyle you'll be able to afford a good standard of living and have plenty left over for luxury's 😊

Re: Complete Junk We Buy

This made me chuckle... Mostly because we do exactly the same 😁 Wind her up and watch her go! I did have an unfortunate spinning accident once though, wound her up a bit too much and she ended up...

Re: Complete Junk We Buy

Also a tagine is in there somewhere. Last time I saw it the lid was off (no idea where that is) and it's full of Tupperware lids. It's basically the same as using any ceramic dish with a lid which we...

Re: Complete Junk We Buy

Lol, same here with a yoghurt maker. Saw it in Mitre 10 for $10, used it once then decided it's much easier to just by it 😋

Re: Pegasus

I live next to Pegasus. Nice place, lake is lovely, has a few more shops and a pub there now. Forest, beach and wetlands on your doorstep too. Does get bloody windy though, I've left my house and...

Re: Ridiculous NZ Motorhome / Campervan hire costs

Meh, I don't think that's worthy of a complaint. That's the downside of living in a smaller town/city within NZ, there's a monopoly largely due to demand. If there was enough demand I'm sure Jetstar...

Re: Ridiculous NZ Motorhome / Campervan hire costs

I often look at people driving hired campers around NZ and wonder how the flip they afford it. But alas that is supply and demand for you.

Your husband BEVS is a bit of a handyman no? I reckon it...

Re: Personal wills

We did ours using a will kit like this:

As long as the kit is good quality and legitimate then I would say it's much cheaper and easier...

Bring it on I say! The Warehouse ad made me laugh. I see what they're going for but "made in China by Chinese for NZ" would be more accurate. Shame it doesn't have the same ring to it...

Hello Stix

Glad you've got things sorted now. The way NZ operates with certain health and medical treatment is appalling. A friend of mine had breast cancer, had a double mastectomy and...

Just research the latest strike action by teachers in NZ, it seems your gripes are exactly there's too.

I would say if you want to give NZ a crack then do it but I wouldn't pin all your...
