Re: Villas

Millhouse,

With a wife expecting a baby soon, why not stay in an apartment somewhere where she can push the baby in a pram to the local shops? I'd think a new mum with a baby would get really...

Re: Villas

The midrise blocks next to the lake (Tanaro? Arno?) have large flats with massive terraces. Don't need to be on the ground floor if you have a huge terrace. Your wife may enjoy having the Greens...

Re: Villas

Umm Suqeim?

Everyone has to compromise on something. I'd take the location and proximity to the beaches over anything in Dubailand.

Re: The EU after Brexit

Oh, my attitude towards the EU hasn't changed, not one whit. I still think it's an extraordinarily undemocratic entity cobbled together by a bunch of people who didn't trust themselves to rule...

Re: The EU after Brexit

What has also changed in the past 20 years is that opportunities gap between the haves and have-nots have greatly exploded too. I'm not necessarily talking about income gaps or wealth gaps, but...

Re: The EU after Brexit

It's always hard to tell if you're sincere or not but I'm old enough to remember when these jobs were mostly done by Brits. It was not that long ago either. Just pay them well enough and they'll do...

Re: The EU after Brexit

This time it'll be Mother EU deciding what day we can put the bins out ;)

Truth be told, I'm not sure what to think about the whole thing now.

Re: The EU after Brexit

Given that May's deal has effectively hamstrung all future governments, I really can't tell you. Probably something like the Scottish government. Plenty of loud squawking but little effect.

Re: The EU after Brexit

Didn't you just say Brexit ain't gonna happen?

Or did you mean if we will have a government after today?

Re: Good weekend?

Friday: gym AM and them had to put in an afternoon's QA/QC review of others' work. Which I hate but needs must.

But I did set a new record. Did the weekly food prep in 35 minutes flat Saturday...

Re: November Thread

Probably right. Quite good at puzzles. I used to read my mother's mysteries and had them solved within 20 pages.

I could tell you stories about blindfolds and hand-cuffs and being naked. Would...

Re: November Thread

Tell me about escape rooms, Millhouse. I've heard of the concept. You're locked into a room and need to figure your way out? What's the pleasure in it?

November already eh?

Weather has cooled rapidly in the past week or so. Winter is coming soon. Compared to the UAE Qatar seems to have a narrower window of hot but pleasant weather as the country...

Re: Jobs for girls!

Just be aware that it's close to two hours from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi. Dubai is a bit closer but it's still around 90 minutes.

I'm guessing the best option is admin roles in schools. Pay will be...

Re: Aprt Lease Question

I once saw in an elevator a notice telling tenants to clean up after their pets or the management would be forced to enforce the no-pet clauses in their contracts.

Re: Advice on a job offer in Qatar

Too bad they're utter shite. Crap product, crap service. I work five day weeks and get six weeks' holiday like all my friends do. Only construction people work Saturdays.

Re: Aprt Lease Question

Odds are they just want the form so some monkey can stamp it and duly file it. Leave the pet line blank along with as many other lines you can leave blank. Your contract and RERA back you up in case...
