Why do you need a £1m of cover?
Check you death in service benefits first.
Then what would be needed to pay off debt then add 'family protection' which is putting money in the bank to provide for...

Generally you need a UK income to get a UK mortgage so you wouldn't be able to buy while still in Italy.
And if you're freelance/self employed that will require a year or more to have the track...

You will need some employment history.
You might squeak through with a couple of lenders if you are moving internal to an organisation so are continuous service.

If the visa has the fasttrack option take it. We didn't and at the time it would have been $100 well spent to take the hassle and wait out of the equation.

Weather has been OK relative to the rest of the country.
Have had wind and rain but not the flooding and damage seen elsewhere.

The answer is in theory Yes. If your income etc can support the loan.
The problem comes with finding a lender who's criteria allow it and have a product available.

Good luck - was in CA and now in Ware!
Rental market is very active here. Not so sure about other parts of Herts.

We used Allied and they were OK. Mayflower was the local agent.

not2old - the criteria are generally the same for all applicants.
Income and affordability are important as are credit history.
There are so many different criteria and different lender policies...

Don't forget the lifetime tracker is the lifetime of the loan not you. So you will likely have to find an alternative at 75.
And the maximum term for interest only is 65.

Finding a broker is sensible. You can self source but a decent broker will pull together the whole of the market for you quickly and give you a starting point.

Depending where you're headed I would get a PAYG first to make sure you have the coverage required. Once you're locked into a contract be too late to find you have no coverage in important areas.
