Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

Hope Gap. Pretty good UK drama.

Lupin - been watching it. Entertaining.

Shouldn't there be a 2021 movies thread ?

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

Apparently there has been quite a renaissance in chess as a result of Queens Gambit. Especially in the online world. I think two of the top online players are Canadian girls.

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

Chess is not difficult to play (though difficult to be good). Why not give it another try. Plenty of (free) apps and play the computer versions. It's less intimidating/frustrating when playing a...

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

Queens Gambit. Watchable. Interesting that chess was so mainstream back in the 60s.

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

The Jackal. 1997 Bruce Willis version. Hey, it was on BBC. Very strained plot, but not bad in the last half hour. The depiction of the Canadian was extremely cringey.

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

Good film. SPOILER...

It's basically the reflections of the janitor at various points in his life, and the woman is a projection of someone he once met. It's an interesting film, but definitely...

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

That's encouraging. Considering how old Keanu looks in the trailer, I wasn't expecting it to be so good.

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

In the process of watching. 10-20 mins at a time over the past week or so. Concentration is not what it was ! Not bad, interesting to see Sandler in a semi-serious role.

Is the new pic, you?

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

Don't I know it! Gosh you have a good memory Bristol. I quite liked the episode, but there was a bit of a 'here we go again' feeling. A new but familiar plotline about to be rolled out, and Carrie...

Re: 2020 - movies seen this year

No new films, but watched Midnight Cowboy again as it's been put on Netflix. Probably a good 30 years since I first saw it (which is crazy, because it predates then) and it's definitely a lot more...
