Re: Can I work in America if I got the ACA Accountancy qualification?

Just to chuck in my few pence worth...

My hubby got a 2:2 at uni (so at that point none of the Big 4 would probably consider him) and then got a job at a smallish accounting firm where he studied...

Re: Comfort Foods?

Belgian Chocolate Haagen Daaz ice cream (they don't seem to do it here - just chocolate, but it's not the same). It's just heaven in my opinion.

Re: Seeing UK Christmas Ads is Fuelling My Homesickness!

I think I must be missing something with that ad. I just don't think it's that great. The Matalan ad is good this year (if extremely soppy).

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

To me, uk pigs in blankets are wrapped in bacon. I didn't even know a different type of PIB existed. If you go to google.co.uk and search pigs in blankets in images, this is the first:

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

I should have taken a photo. They had choc covered ginger biscuits, and lots of jars of things (pickled onions, cranberry sauce, that sort of thing). I sort of stared, picked up a jar of caramelised...

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

I was in F&E this morning. They had a random small section with Tesco Finest Christmas bits and bobs. I saw them and it took me a moment to process that that was strange. Once I had I was very...

Glad it's not just me.

Re: Seeing UK Christmas Ads is Fuelling My Homesickness!

I've been really surprised at how un-Christmassy it is!! I was pleased when they stepped it up a notch after Halloween, but really it's quite different from the UK.

Seeing UK Christmas Ads is Fuelling My Homesickness!

Xmas ads here just aren't the same.

I'm going back to the UK in 4 weeks, so I know I can't really complain, but man, it makes me feel like I am so totally in the wrong country :-(

13 months...

Re: US Move; What Did you Miss?

Lots I miss! Things I can think of off the top of my head:

Sausages
Sausage rolls
Pasties
Galaxy chocolate
Soppy christmas ads (watched X factor UK the other day and the ads were awesome)...

Are There Fireworks Anywhere in the Bay Area on/around November 5th?

Or is this wishful thinking? Or if there aren't, do you know of anywhere I can get sparklers at this time of year?

I realised...
