Re: Health insurance query?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I was told recently by a healthcare Insurance broker, that if you are on a non resident visa (E2 for example) the ACA requirements do not apply to you and...

EB2 Green Card and Entries into the US

Afternoon all,

I am at the early stages of the EB2 process and my company's immigration lawyer has asked me to provide some rather in depth information. I have done a good job so far of providing...

Re: Nelly1975's questions on buying a house in the USA

Appreciate we lost Nelly some time back now, but adding my 2c worth.

I live in Orlando too. Used to live in Houston (probably the 2 places that get the most grief on here!) Before bonus, I earn...

B1 Visa for retired people

My father is a retired British Citizen, who has come over a number of times to visit us. He is in his mid 60's. Every time he has visited the US it has been on the VWP.

He has been speaking about...

Re: Are UK Citizens permitted to buy a restaurant franchise in the US?

I'd say that when the investor has spent their entire working life NOT running anything even close to a Denny's or similar, it would be a lot higher than 80%

The guy who runs the Denny's near us...

How long do I get??

Evening all,

Background; I am here on an E2, sponsored by my employer, a British company.

I have been given the opportunity to move companies and switch to another E2 company, who will sponsor...

Re: What exactly is better about the US?

Ok, didn't want to read and run, so here goes.

When I initially moved over, my life was substantially better in the US. I had more money, more time with my family, more things to do. I lived in...

Re: E2 visa help re: fees

Echoing this.

New York does not strike me as the sort of place to be living on a shoestring.

Ask lots of questions at your next meeting, hopefully things can sort themselves out. To be able...

Re: E2 visa help re: fees

You do both go for your interview at the same time, you do go through the process together. Your visa's have the same dates in, but all dependent visa's require EAD to work.

Please update us when...

Re: E2 visa help re: fees

Short of your company employing her and putting her on an E2, I see no way for your wife to work immediately after landing and not applying for an EAD.

Even if they moved you on an L1, your wife...

Re: E2 visa help re: fees

I believe you need to have a US address and your wife needs a Social Number to apply.

Realistically you wouldn't receive an EAD for her for at least 105 days from landing, most likely a little...

Re: E2 visa help re: fees

L1 would give you a very quick and easy route to a Green Card at which point you could quit your job and go elsewhere.

E2 is tied to the company, leave the company and either find another E2...

Re: E2 visa help re: fees

You can't apply for an EAD until you have a Visa and are in country.

My wife didn't need to work, but got bored of the Stepford wife thing and so we got it about a year after arriving. Another...

Re: E2 visa help re: fees

E2's are used when a person hasn't worked at a company for a year. I moved over on an E2 and my first day at the company was in Houston.

Whoever told you it was $3,000 was giving you poor...

Re: Building Services Enginner/MEP Engineer

As a recruiter I can vouch that the above is total fiction.

Firstly, if I was getting between 30-60% of salary as a fee I would have retired about 10 years ago.

Secondly, Spamming out resume's...

Re: Pool business

No.

If you come in on an E2, you would still have to qualify for a different visa type to apply for PR and you would have to be sponsored for that visa.

You dont go E2 to Green Card, what I was...

Re: Pool business

Sure.

I am in Recruitment. There are a number of E2 Recruitment companies in the US. Generally the standard of US recruiters is less than poor, although there are exceptions
