Re: Have Visa, but potentially not going :-(

You're not the only one, and for many it isn't so much the difference in everyday costs but the combination of decreasing exchange rates and increasing house prices that means you now get something...

Re: ADL or MEL, decisions...

Go to Melbourne. It's where you want to be. And there's more opportunities for you. Give it a go for 6 months to a year, then if you're missing the relatives or it doesn't fulfil your expectations...

Re: Driving from Sydney to Melbourne - any suggestions

We've done this trip a couple of times. There's two routes. If you've got a week to do it go the coast route. I wouldn't suggest you go this route if you've got less than 4 days because at least 2...

Re: Ok so iv'e weighed up the pros and cons and..

Its not an easy decision. But you shouldn't go to Aus "just to give it a try" as I often see quoted here, it has to be a clearly advantageous move for you. If you just want a change why not move...

Re: Tas. B&Bs / units. Where to find.

Thanks. Airlie Lodge looks nice but they don't have availability on the nights we need. Any other recommendations for those towns folks?

Hi,
My parents and sister are over in February and are touring Tasmania for 10 days, and needing either B&Bs / hotels / units for between 1 and 3 nights in each place.

They are visiting...

Re: My sister is coming...

Lakes Entrance is lovely. We were there for a couple of days a while back. We hired a little motor boat out and drove it around the lakes and rivers for the day. Most enjoyable. Plenty of hotels and...

Re: Cross with the school

OP. I would get your childs toe looked at by a doctor if as you say the nail is black and lifting off on one side. The reason is that if an infection did occur as a result of this accident you would...

Re: Travel insurance for UK visitors

There's no cheap option. My parents in their late 70s have paid about £600 for a 4 month policy.

Do have a look at Lloyds Banks Platinum current account. My Dad was told you get free travel...

Re: Hiring a campervan Britz/Apollo

If you're still a UK resident you should consider taking an excess insurance policy before you go. This will cover any claim made against your car hire bond excess, I'm not totally sure it is...

Re: will it work if only one of us wants to be in oz

No it won't! Are all three of your kids keen to move as well?

I think your kids might be too old to change country, they will have good friends where they are, and it becomes progressively more...

Re: When to tell work collegues.

Much depends on whether you can risk your boss finding out. It may affect your bonus or pay rise for the remaining duration of your employment, and may sour working relationships if colleagues...

Is there a way of getting an affordable holiday home / weekend retreat either in the Northern Beaches area or out South of the city? In the UK you can buy a static mobile home (oxymoron I know) on a...

Re: Talking Myself out of Emigrating

Another option for you Debs would be to wait in the UK until your daughter finishes school, whether that be at age 16 or 18 and then go and study in Australia. You have 5 yrs from visa validation so...

Re: melbourne or sydney??

I'd do a year in each if you're only there for 2 years.

Both great - I've only visited, not lived there, but from my impressions Melbourne is more UK-like, cooler weather, and lots of stuff around...
