Re: 2020 and the joys of N400 waiting

Received the letter saying that they will reuse my previous biometrics, but will not issue a refund.

A week later, I have been allocated an interview date in 5 weeks time. Don't know how long I...

Re: 2020 and the joys of N400 waiting

Since they're short of money, I'm happy for them to keep the fee, if it means I can skip a visit to them (saves me taking unpaid time off work), and hopefully quicken things up (as if that's possible...

Re: Another N400 Timeline...

I filed mine back in March this year. At the time, it was expected to take 4-5 months once my application reached Tampa. In time to vote!

8 months later, it's still sat in the queue somewhere. ...

Re: Class 2 NI abolished. What about us poor expats paying voluntary contributio

Following advice from this thread, I downloaded a form, and mailed it off. Worth doing since I am able to top up using the cheaper Class 2.

Re: Class 2 NI abolished. What about us poor expats paying voluntary contributio

Received the letter saying they have accepted my application to pay voluntary Clas 2 NICs.

I have 34 years of contributions, and the letter shows me I can pay £158.60 for 2018-2019, and £159.00...

Re: Price of gas update...

The price I pay at the pump (before discounts) is the price on the forecourt sign. I've not seen any bait and switch prices, although there are a couple of gas stations I avoid, since their sign...

Re: Price of gas update...

Managed to find a Shell station at $1.96. The range of gas prices locally seems to be $1.92 to $2.03.

I use Shell since I get 15c per gallon discount at the pump (thanks T-Mobile), and 10c per...

Re: Wireless Security cameras. Any recommendations ?

Another fan of Wyse cameras.

Yes, they are cheap, and require a monthly subscription per camera if you want to record to the cloud. They do have a micro-SD slot, although that's no good if the...

Re: Class 2 NI abolished. What about us poor expats paying voluntary contributio

From what I see online, Class 2 contributions are for the self employed. I don't see how I can register to pay that rate, since I'm working, although in the US and not UK.

At least there is a...

Re: Class 2 NI abolished. What about us poor expats paying voluntary contributio

I've checked, and discovered that I have 34 years of contributions. It will cost me $761.80 to make it up to the maximum amount of £175.20, compared to the current quote of £171.08 per week. This...

Re: Safest place in Florida, Rent or Buy

I've lived in Saint Petersburg, FL for the last 3 years, and have never felt unsafe. In fact, I do feel safer here than I did back in the UK! I am aware that there are areas to avoid, especially...

Re: N-400 Processing Times? Slowed due to CO-19?

I applied back in March this year, 90 days before my recorded date of entry. This week, I decided to log into the website to see if any progress has been made, and it estimates completion time to be...

Re: Couple of questions (I-751 and N-400)

When I started filling in the N-400 forms online, I started the weekend before (free time), so everything would be ready to submit on the day (wanted to file before any fee increase), the web site...

Re: $1200 Payout. Are immigrants eligible?

Why would a non citizen not have a SSN? Unless they are not living / working in the USA, although there may be other situations I'm not aware of.

I know prior to moving to the USA, my wife...

Re: The little things.

Bit the bullet and bought rechargeable beard trimmers off Amazon. The wife then cut my hair. I must say she did a good job - mine is an easy cut, #1 trim all over. I don't think I will need to visit...

Re: The little things.

In theory, it could be DIY, although it's much easier if somebody else does it, otherwise you'd need a couple of mirrors to try and view the entire head. Besides, I have somebody else to blame if it...
