Re: Over 40- has anyone immigrated this late?

I immigrated in 2013, at the age of 48. Came in as a temporary worker with a job offer, immediately applied for PR under the BC Provincial Nomination Program, and have just sent off my citizenship...

Re: NEXUS card

This appears to be wrong. I just called the Nexus info line and asked them this question. The answer was that:

You need to hold PR (or be a citizen) at the time you apply
You need to have lived...

Re: Time scales for provincial nominee B.C.

The line when I got my TWP at Vancouver on Monday was about half Brits (and Americans) working in film, and they all seemed to be breezing through pretty fast.

Re: BC PNP based on job offer, interim LMO & TWP

Just the LMO and offer. However, they appear to ask any question that they need to, to investigate (that was certainly the case for several of the students entering), so I would have everything...

Re: BC PNP based on job offer, interim LMO & TWP

An update (because I think it's good to put experiences down for others to search on and find): getting a work permit at port of entry (Vancouver airport) was very easy, though the overall wait time...

Re: BC PNP based on job offer, interim LMO & TWP

Re: timescales for PNP/ Pr applications from outside Canada

Thanks - I can now wait in a more relaxed way because I have a positive LMO and can therefore get a TWP and start work! I knew it was a good idea to do PNP and LMO at the same time :)

Cheers

Re: BC PNP based on job offer, interim LMO & TWP

An update, so that info's here for anyone who searches in the future.

The employer had no problem at all doing the work for the BC PNP and the LMO, so both of those were started together. It's not...

Re: timescales for PNP/ Pr applications from outside Canada

Hi all

Just to drag the thread back (maybe temporarily) to PNP times... :)

I posted my BC PNP application to Vancouver on the 16th of August, and Australia Post confirm it was delivered on the...

Re: Leaving Australia (Perth) and donating furniture...

Yes, I had the same reaction from the Salvos. The comment was "everything must be perfect because we sell it in the shops". I found that St Vincent De Paul, Good Sammy or other charities have a more...

Re: Leaving Australia (Perth) and donating furniture...

Freecycle is good, but when you have a limited window of time to dispose of everything (because after September I will have no place to leave anything), it's not that useful because you can't...

Collecting shipped goods from Vancouver airport

Hi all

Re: Visitor in Canada while waiting for BC PNP, LMO

Thanks, FL - an excellent and authoritative answer :)

I think I'm going to ask Air Canada for a statement also, on the return ticket thing (and of course I'd post it in here for future reference)....
