Bought violin in Jeddah for 400SAR (al Dawlia has all kinds of instruments) and travelled with as hand luggage in addition to hand bag. Not bothered when boarding neither Saudia nor Lufthansa.

1. spouse
2. children
3. parents
If your wife has residence permit - she can also invite her parents - your in laws....
