Re: A league final sells out.

Good to hear. Queensland started off really well and were up there with Melbourne in the early round. If you'd have beaten Sydney in the last round, you'd have made the finals, so wasn't a disaster...

Re: A league final sells out.

Oh yes, and forgot to mention. If you want a Victory fix prior to the pre-season cup, don't know if you're aware but the team played a series of friendlies against teams in the Vodafone Cup last May...

Re: A league final sells out.

Not sure of any links to the pre-season cup, but basically it involves all A-League clubs split into two groups and the top two in each group go through to the semi-final, and the rest (bizarrely)...

Re: A league final sells out.

Reckon Olympic Park will be used for next season's pre-season cup. Shame it can't be used more, as it has a feel of a British football league ground pre-Taylor report and I prefer standing to sitting...

Re: A league final sells out.

I've been to all three codes of football in Melbourne and football or "soccer" (I hate that word) was by far the best atmosphere. At Victory v NZ Knights, just before Christmas, all four sides of...

Re: Football - The A-League - Worth watching?

IMO the A League is well worth watching. The Melbourne matches I've been to have had far more atmosphere than AFL and RL matches I've attended. I'm the first to admit that it's not Premiership...

Re: Leeds v Watford

Come on Watford! Although I was born in Leeds and lived in the city for 35 years, I've absolutely no love for united and hope they stay where they are.

Re: Melbourne Grand Prix - Anyone going?

Yeah, me too. Sounds an ideal place to watch a Grand Prix. Is it in the general admission area?

Re: Melbourne Grand Prix - Anyone going?

I'm going. Never been to a GP and I'm not really a fan of motor sports, but my Dad's over at the time so he's bought us tickets. I've bought us tickets for Essendon v Sydney, the previous evening, so...

Re: UK Nursery Nurse working in Melbourne

Hi,
It was me that started the other thread about childcare qualifications, on behalf of my wife. Despite her qualifications being post-1993, the relevant authority are still insisting on an...

Re: Bloody tradies!

We're having a bit of a 'mare with the tradies doing our bathroom and kitchen. The fact that there's bad blood between the kitchen installer and the plumber / electrician from a previous job doesn't...

Re: Buying a house in Aus... whats the worst you've looked at???

Reminds me of when we were looking round rental properties. We looked at one in Croydon and it appeared to have last been modernised in the 50's. When we asked the agent if there was any heating in...

My wife's stepmother sends us videotapes of various programmes from the UK and on a recent one were two episodes of a programme called Life on Mars. Anyway, I thought they were superb and am looking...

We live in Mitcham and will be moving down the road to Nunawading, next year. Although we are not too close to any beaches, we are near to one of the train lines into the city, which takes roughly 40...

For future reference, how big are redbacks and are they obvious when you spot one (i.e. red in colour)? We just seem get those that look like daddy long legs. Don't know what breed they are, but I'm...

Re: Is getting your visa an orgasmic experience??

Personally, I was in shock whem my wife phoned to say we'd been granted our visas. I think it was because I was expecting to find out the following year. Took a while to sink in.

Re: Aren't toilet rolls expensive here?!

Greetings cards are cheap in Australia. Remember when you'd see a card in Clintons, or wherever, and you'd check the code only to find it cost the best part of four quid? You can get two or three...

Big Day Out 2006

Anyone going to the Big Day Out next year? As it will be the first one I've attended, I wondered if it was similar to the Carling / T in the Park / V festivals in the UK in that the bands will be...
