Re: Ticket to the Cayman Islands (from the UK)

Best of luck. One tip. Buy your toiletries before you get here. $6+ for a deodorant. And get some mossie repellant. They are on the warpath just now.

Re: cruise ships

We went on a cruise round the Med in 2013. Visited some lovely places but the most we ever did was buy a beer or two and a piece of tat. When you have an 'eat your own weight and more' service on the...

Re: Cruise Pier. Yes or No?

https://caymannewsservice.com/2019/06/alden-port-national-importance/#comments

So what I take from this is that the Gov can 'devalue' the importance of the port and decide it isn't worth voting...

Re: 15% service charge

A certain waterfront bar owner told me exactly that! If you work at the Ritz, Westin, Kimpton etc. then these wages are common. Substantially more than I get. I appreciate that their working hours...

15% service charge

A general 'does anyone know' question. A colleague told me that this was a recent thing (couple of years) and prior to that, any tipping was discretionary. Who introduced this nonsense? It really...

re: Cruise Pier. Yes or No?

Well those opposed have now reached the threshold to trigger a referendum. Crack open the popcorn and let the machinations begin!

Re: Cayman island move

Cracking summary from TandD until this bit 'Like Scotland they want independence but know that would be financial suicide'. That's a step closer with the imminent implosion of the Tories. We'll free...

Re: Ticket to the Cayman Islands (from the UK)

Keep an eye on https://ecaytrade.com/cayman/real-estate too. People leave the island all the time. Occasionally you'll find a good un' at the right price.

re: Cruise Pier. Yes or No?

For the price for a night in some hotels here, you could get a full weeks holiday in The Canaries! By dropping the prices, you would get more custom. People from Europe shun Cayman as a destination...

Re: Gay Marriage

It's coming whether the MLAs like it or not. Some of the rhetoric and tub-thumping has been a sight to behold and some of the comments in the CNS have been quite incredible. UK ex-pats take same sex...
