Re: United Airlines

I've often wondered about BA, the last long haul I did with them was LHR->SIN and it was pretty good. That said, I have zero status with them and that scares the crap out of me.

Re: United Airlines

I feel for you.

The very few cool things about Delta. One is that you get access to the Virgin Clubhouses if you have status. The second is the little authentic Tumi amenity kit you get in...

Re: United Airlines

Just be careful that you don't end up flying on Delta metal! I did that a few Christmases ago, I booked with Virgin as United had no availability but ended up going on a 767 that was made while...

United Airlines

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a captive to MileagePlus/Star Alliance and United but recently I've started to really question the condition of their aircraft.

The newer 737s and Airbuses are...

Jetlag tips

I've been traveling back and forth between the UK and New York for the last 3 years, sometimes 3-4 times a month. Problem is I suffer terribly from jetlag and was wondering if anyone has some good...

Re: Global Entry

I have to admit I was surprised at how quick it was. A colleague of mine got it in just under 10 days. I am in NYC and had quite a few options of location for interview, I found the downtown in...

Global Entry

So I finally got round to applying for Global Entry, from applying in the UK to my interview in the USA it took 4 days. Remarkable.

I used it last weekend at EWR for the first time and I was super...

Re: Jetlag

I feel for you, that trip down to Oz is brutal from the East Coast! I did it twice last September, EWR to LAX to MEL, I was in a whole new world of pain. When I flew to Australia from LHR it was nice...

Re: Intra-Company Transfer

I got an L1-A without a degree but then again I've over 12+ years experience in my field which appeared to tick the box. We did try two immigration attorneys who said they wouldn't be able to get me...

Re: FAO Anyone on an L1A / B

I've renewed my L1-A twice now and on both occasions I got asked for my I-797 the first time I entered on it. The first L1-A I got I learned a lesson when entering via EWR, not only did they want the...

Re: Jetlag

They work wonders if you are of a height where you can actually lie flat! I fly United and on the occasions I've been upgraded to BusinessFirst I can never get comfortable. On two occasions I have...

From Windows to Mac

I have to admit that I've been looking at the Mac for some time now and my existing Windows laptop is coming to the end of it's useful life. I've been looking at the MacBook Air 13 and the MacBook...

Jetlag

I still end up going back to the UK at least once a month and in 4 years of doing so I really haven't found a good way to deal with jetlag. The only major discovery I found was not doing the red eye...

TSA Pre

I'd love to formally apply for TSA Pre but I can't because I don't have a green card nor am I a USC, I am here on an L1-A.

I used to get TSA Pre virtually every time on all my flights before April...

Re: Has anyone ever applied L1B visa from Canada?

I renewed my L1A in Canada. I can't comment on time scales for an L1B but the hardest part was getting an appointment. We used premium processing and from petition to appointment it took around 4...

Re: B2 visa - really that difficult?

What our immigration lawyer didn't tell us when applying for a B1/2 is that it's normally issued in ESTA countries to peeps with a criminal conviction.

Good luck!

Re: B2 visa - really that difficult?

I would stick with the ESTA.

My B1/2 caused me no end of hassle, more often than not the immigration bod asked me if I had a criminal conviction. On one memorable occasion at EWR one of the...

Re: When a holiday isn't a holiday

I sympathise.

You're right, there's a lot to see in the US, if you haven't been already then put Hawaii on your list. It's a 10 hour flight from NYC but well worth it!

I am very fortunate in...

My girlfriend who is American has travelled to the UK a good 10 times in the past few years and she's never had a problem getting into LHR. The only question she ever got asked (other than the...

Re: Do Dual Status returns/refunds take longer to receive?

Off topic but I file in both the UK and the USA, I get a refund in the UK for Tax I pay in the USA. I normally get the refund from HMRC in a couple of days which has always amazed me!

Re: Am I entitled to anything?

So the short answer is that I'm not entitled to anything. To be clear, this was a question related to whether I was rather than should I be. Thanks for all the comments.
