We may not like it but GST is "Goods and Services Tax", nothing new there.

I am well aware that the commission would likely be split with another agent but even at that it if the 6% applies then it is still considerably higher than here in Calgary.

Are you saying that regardless of the value of the property you will not list for less than 6% commission?

Sweet deal if you can get it.

Standard in Calgary I believe is 7% on the first...

I can only think that the agents themselves feel that this is a fair rate and is as low as they are willing to go to provide their services.

I would think it is precisely for that reason. It allows the potential buyer to clearly state to their agent what they think of the property without insulting or hurting anyones feelings.

If the only two agents you can deal with refuse to negotiate the it doesn't matter whether the rate is negotiable or not, in your case it isn't, you can't force them to negotiate if they don't want...
