My wife...

Re: Council Tax on a Tourist Visa

Fair enough, I accept my original post didn't read as clearly as it sounded in my head.

My main point - I genuinely was just trying to find out if people on a tourist visa are subject to council...

Re: Council Tax on a Tourist Visa

Yes, good point. Thank you for that

I've read around on a few other forums and council websites, where others have found themselves in similar situations, and it seems that individual councils...

Re: Council Tax on a Tourist Visa

I think you're entirely missing my point!

In fact, what on earth are you talking about??

My question simply was - do people in the UK on a tourist visa have to pay council tax?

I never...

Naive question about recruiter's fees

How do job recruiters and agencies generally make their money in New Zealand?

After they find you a job:

Do they get a cut of your pay each month?

Or does the employer pay them a one-off...

Re: Skype interview with recruiter

Mine was for IT work too. It actually went pretty well - but like you say, who knows whether anything will come from it.

With it just being with a recruiter, I found it was more of an informal...

Re: HMRC customs charges (for used, personal belongings)

That's exactly it. Not many people will consider the 4 month wait worthwhile, it's easier to just pay up when the charges aren't too much. But all those £24's or so will add up! They must be making a...
