Not quite. If you do not notify DIAC then you have 28 days to go. Newspaper articles indicate DIAC are amenable to extending the period as long as they are kept informed. The 28 days is to help...

Here's a map of UK based agents, is mostly up to date. Make sure to assess them before signing eg prior migration experience, MARA registration, years in business etc

But there is an employer, the entity that has the tax registration and NI number, even if that is you. You being a sole trader in the UK would be using the services of you in Aus.

I think it is answerable.

I can imagine DIAC saying that doing your usual work for an overseas employer while here on other reasons is OK, if you just happened to be in Aus when you needed to XYZ;...

There are separate visas for people who are in Australia to do work on behalf of an overseas business.
