Re: L-2 Documents Required London

I had to do this a few years back to get a L-2 visa. I took a copy of my spouses L-1 visa, marriage certificate, I-797 and that was it. L-2s are super easy and very black and white. You get one if...

Re: For those that have applied for a child’s passport, a couple of questions.

So after one renewal you've just hit the cost of registering them. Be realistic, unless you're going on extremely extended vacations or will go back to live in the UK, how often will you use the UK...

Re: For those that have applied for a child’s passport, a couple of questions.

I did exactly the same thing for exactly the same reasons. While living in the US, it is almost pointless getting a UK passport. You really don't need it, but once registered there is a hard copy you...

Re: L1 visa situation - any change since 2013?

Ah - we *could* be splitting hairs but what else is the internet for. IMO you're missing the point - you think I'm misinterpreting the term "easier" in this context, but I think you're...

Re: L1 visa situation - any change since 2013?

But is that relevant to making it easier to get a green card? No... I never said getting a L1-A wouldn't be preferable... just whatever L visa you get the EB petition will be judged solely on its own...

Re: L1 visa situation - any change since 2013?

I don't like it when people say this - it's not really true.
My wife was sponsored on a L1-B visa, and applied for (and was approved for) a EB-1C multinational manager.
There is *absolutely* no...

Re: N400 Interview - Tax Returns?

I brought the last five years 1040s complete with schedules and other numbered forms attached with me all printed out. Stacks of paper and copies of everything submitted with my N-400. The only thing...

Re: robUK81's N400 Timeline

I wouldn't be surprised if your oath ceremony was on the 18th January... I'd make a bet as I'm totally a gambler but I've learnt to not gamble unless it's roulette.

Re: My Naturalization Journey

I did this too. Wasn't asked for anything though - but YMMV, so I'd still bring them.

Re: N-400

Of course, YMMV but my Oath Ceremony was 10 days after my interview - I booked a passport appointment for the following day once I knew when the oath ceremony was, had my passport back within a week...

Re: Who has recently applied for U.S citizenship?

Applied May 2018, Oath Ceremony September, 4 months total - FWIW - it estimated my case completion at June 2019 (13 months), so take that with a pinch of salt - it COULD take that long, but it...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

Ooops - yes OK I received one today. Now turned them off since it's a little pointless...!

If you have an interview date I'd just appear at that - be up front and mention the I-751 if you...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

I can't remember if I turned mine off or not... but I haven't received any since I became a citizen!

Re: Speeding ticket by a state trooper

I had one speeding ticket - 86 in a 70, went straight to court couldn't even pay a fine. In the end, had an attorney show up for me, reduced to "improper equipment", no points on license, court fine...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

I applied for my passport today based on the fact that you *have* to have a US passport as a citizen to enter the US. I figured there must be exceptions, but to make my life easier, applying for the...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

Had my oath ceremony today and am a very fresh new minted US citizen - with a lovely little flag to wave! They did NOT take any passport applications there, but they did allow you to fill out voter...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

Ah well not much point wondering - I had notification of the oath ceremony waiting in my USCIS account - it's a week on Friday!! Wow this is pretty fast. From being eligible on 1st August to Oath on...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

How soon after the application approval did you receive the letter for the oath ceremony? Was it pretty quick? Seems the ceremony is around 3 weeks after the letter which is what the USCIS officer...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

Thanks! Yes I hope so. My interview date is August 27th, with Oath hopefully September/Early October. So no issue with not being eligible since it's now all after 1st August. Also based on advice I...

Re: Green Cards. Then What?

Do you realize the paradox of this sentence... how do you maintain your *Permanent* Resident status then if you're *not* living here permanently...

Erm...

You don't*

If you had a green card...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

Was your AOS filed concurrently? I had a similar experience with that - I-140 was EB-1C and accepted start of Jan 2013, approved June, I-485 was subsequently approved and had green cards on 1st...

Re: Hawkinis N400 Timeline - Short Apparently!!

That's true. I rechecked the Documents tab online and my interview has indeed been set for 27th August - so looks like everything fine...!

On a side note I've seen it noted that I can apply for my...
