Re: Saudi offer

You can never be sure, but i doubt that they will withdraw the offer and tell you it has now expired.

You did well to counter-offer. The money is not much for Saudi. This is not a bargain; for...

Re: Saudi offer

Well said. I think the 35k salary for Saudi, especially for a position based around Jubail, is too low. Granted it's better than what the 55k pounds comes down to in the UK, but still I believe you...

Re: Job offer - Jeddah (salary and cost of living question)

Assuming 6k GBP per month (UK salary) that's some 30k SAR per month. The 45k SAR is reasonable. Less may be less attractive - it's KSA after all. And by the way leaving outside a compound is really...

Re: Job offer - Jeddah (salary and cost of living question)

In KSA, and often in other GCC countries, your current package is usually the benchmark that they use when offering a salary. Thus, to best advise you, you need to share what you are currently...

Re: Riyadh job offer- Please help

And if I may add, with the 110k job, and the additional work experience, future opportunities in the Gulf could (eventually) be more attractive than the current, all inclusive (low) 50k SAR offer....

Re: UK to Riyadh salary advice

Which is why it was empasized that these uplifts can only apply for a like to like job (which of course is arbitrary as such qualification isnt really possible).

So of course it is not just about...

Re: UK to Riyadh salary advice

pollution is key...it is also far away from khobar, let alone bahrain, and lacks real diversity in its crowd. Now are there worse places in ksa...? I guess. But it is not a place one goes for a 10%...

Re: UK to Riyadh salary advice

Terrible location, and the 2h drive that you saw is misleading...it could easily take 3 to 4 hours from Jubail, precisely around the times/days that your friend would want to visit bahrain.

Re: UK to Riyadh salary advice

I can see the logic of people who have settled in ksa, especially in eastern province close to bahrain, who wouldnt be ready to have a pay cut to move to Dubai. After all, any such cut would only get...

Re: UK to Riyadh salary advice

I think there are two kinds of uplifts in our discussion.

1. What one should choose if two offers are extended, one in Dubai and one in KSA. In such case the 30% differential is a reasonable...

Re: UK to Riyadh salary advice

It'll vary as people have different preferences. Some would never go to KSA (or at least that's what they say) for any amount. A minimum increase could be 30% (arbitrary, true, but want to try to...

Re: Would you show your current employer another job offer to get more money?

The OP is probably referring to a real (current) case whereby you have a job in a nice GCC location e.g. Dubai, and you get an attractive offer for a not so nice GCC location e.g. Doha or even worse,...

Re: Job in Abu Dhabi Investment Authority

Not really; by the 'same caliber', i mean positions of similar seniority/salary/employer status etc. ADNOC which i referenced as an example is by no means poor.

I dont know if i confused you, but...

Re: Job in Abu Dhabi Investment Authority

Yeah, the long wait is no doubt a common factor for all ME positions. The original point was about the scrutiny of ADIA's hiring process with multi-stages, multiple interviews/interviewers,...

Re: Job in Abu Dhabi Investment Authority

Fair points. It is just that competition is also high for ADNOC which has a global brand and salaries that are similar to those of ADIA, yet the hiring process is distinctively different between the...

Re: Job in Abu Dhabi Investment Authority

Just out of curiosity: ADIA is no doubt a big player, but not bigger than the regional O&G majors. How come ADIA have such stringent and thorough screening tests vs. all the others...? From those who...

Re: Job offer in Riyadh

I didnt want to discourage you. Just for KSA, it is always (and only) about money. Career prospects are practically nonexistent, chances to learn and grow professionally are very limited, and your...

Re: Job offer in Riyadh

The definition of lucrative is a bit subjective. But 80k, and schooling is a solid offer. To be clear, for a role in Saudi the one and only driver should be the money. I cant believe that a role in...

Re: Job offer in Riyadh

For the offer to become lucrative, it has to go up substantially (e.g. a mere 10% wont be of much help as a differentiating factor, although if you are ready to take the job anyway, then it will at...

Re: Job offer in Riyadh

In such a case, you will get ~100k net p.a. compared to 100k at home (albeit gross). You save the taxes, and you may be renting now so you also save that cost....but still...all in all i wouldnt go...

Re: Job offer in Riyadh

It's certainly not a bad offer. Having said that do expect at least that up to a quarter of your salary would be spent on housing/schooling. So all in all its less than twice your current net income,...

Re: To jump or not..!

On this point: what is the norm when comparing offers? To just use the nominal figures (in that case it's $5k which could be seen as a sizable jump in salary), or the like-to-like figures i.e. after...

Re: To jump or not..!

I used 26k (with your numbers of 18+8k the leftover could be in fact less, at 24k) because this seems to be the take home pay (after housing and schooling). It may be the wrong thing to do for some,...

Re: To jump or not..!

I may have miscalculated something, but here is how i see it.

11k CAD = $8.5K/month (USD)
36K AED (26+10k bonus) = $9.8k or $1.3k/month extra

If bonus is not there (valid approach also) then...
