Island Bay is nice and a nice walk to the hospital or short bus ride....but can be expensive area to rent.
Berhampore is 'up and coming'....it's just next to Island Bay, but much cheaper - so lots...

We didn't have an interview as I had a job offer, but we got the temp 9 month work visa (I'm a pharmacist and can't get registration without being in NZ, so PR immediately wasn't ever going to happen...

I'm vegan myself so never ate Quorn in the UK but there are Bean Supreme sausages (blech) and burgers (quite yummy). Another brand is Veggie Delights and they do 'bacon' and hot dogs and 'fillets'....
