Re: School buses in Ontario

In Canada since 1984, there's been 23 school bus deaths and 10,480 injuries - I'd say that suggests it's a very safe mode of travel but I can understand your concern..
Not sure how the injury figure...

Re: Where to live in Canada

You get bikers in Port Dover most weekends when the weather is good, not just on Friday 13th.
I was there a couple of weeks ago and even with the beach closed there was around 200-250
Not sure what...

Re: Is a move even possible

If there's three of you I don't think $50-70k a year is gonna go far.
You'd need a 2 bed (minimum) size rental and in the GTA you could be looking between $1,500-2,500 a month depending on the area....

Re: Petty crime

Mostly on the local facebook groups.
It could be that people are exaggerating but all the reports are from different locations so hard to tell.

Re: Petty crime

Would you say this is the biggest crime right now?
Very worrying if it is, not much more we can do when we're away from the house

Unhappy Re: Petty crime

Yes, this is the type of crime that's big in our town right now.
With everybody ordering stuff online there's a huge increase in deliveries and most parcels as you say don't require a signature.
It...

Petty crime

In our small town (southern Ontario) there appears to be an increase in petty crimes.
It might be down to the fact that we're at home more since Covid and are reading more social media.
There seems...

Re: Any truth to this blog post?

I've bought a few 'used' motors, mainly Jeeps.
It would be fair to say the engines and gearboxes outlive the bodies unless you're very lucky.
Have never leased in my life, maybe something to...

Re: Experience of flying to Canada during Covid

How much was the ticket?
I have to go to LGW later this year, have they put the prices up to compensate for the low numbers travelling?

Re: Legalities of lending personal money in Canada.

I recently lent a 'friend' some money to buy a truck for his work.
It wasn't such a large sum but was around $3,000
I haven't had a cent back and it's been 18 months
Don't do it is my advice
I...

Re: Top Reasons to Move (and Not Move) to Canada

The weather gets me down.
So much cold and rain.
The winters last about five and a half months and then as soon as it warms up a bit we get mosquitoes.
I came to live here with my wife but if I...

Re: Budgeting for Canada

$150 a month for restaurant/takeaway? That seems really low..
Can't offer much else as areas vary greatly, only I would rent for a year somewhere before you buy.

Re: So when does it "get better"

I'm sure the 17.4 million who voted for Brexit all had different reasons.
No maquiladora's in the UK as far as I'm aware although the EU freedom of movement brought in cheap labour and dragged a lot...
