Re: Schools, teachers, kids and parents. Education in general.

Heard poor Chloe crying in the bathroom this morning.
Today is the first exam of the maturità. Round about now, kids up and down the country will be halfway through a 6 hour Italian exam.

Re: HAPPY HOUR

Saw one with so much hair on his back that it floated out behind him. Ugh. And we're the ones that have to wear swimming caps on our heads.

Re: Views on Molise please.

My personal reaction to many a post would be .... "get ****ed" but because I am the moderator, I am learning to modify my language - to newbies at least. You lot know me a little and know that I am...

Re: Views on Molise please.

Aren't we all prone to them now? Some regions more than others obviously, but we've had quite a few this far up North as well ... so many that schools are being worked on to make them anti-sismic or...

Re: Painkillers

Wow. I was prescribed Tramadol in Italy for broken ribs - bloody painful as hell. I doubt that you could make any successful claim to get back a non- prescribed and confiscated drug though.

Re: HAPPY HOUR

So many years here and I still can't go to the pool and not wonder why so many old men still prefer budgie smugglers and then sit on a lounger, legs open, newspaper open and the meat and two veg...

Re: Views on Molise please.

Hello again. To be honest, it wasn't the number of questions. It was the slightly overdone sarcasm that grated on my nerves a little. Without wanting to sound like a Landlady from Eastenders, I did...

Re: Views on Molise please.

For a newcomer with quite a lot of questions and more than one open thread, you also seem to have a sense of British humour that we do like, but not when it comes across as if you are taking the piss...

Re: Going to be easier to obtain Citizenship?

Not yet the norm in Italy as far as I know. Salvini in fact changed all the citizenship rules and regulations in December 2018, putting the price up, moving the goal posts from at least 2 to at least...

Re: Naturalisation

That's interesting. I don't think Salvini has given over 65 year old people living in Italy the same exemption. Congratulations on your new citizenship.

Re: Contratto Commercio Question

Italians talk a lot about "maturare" and use it for holiday time off work too. Somebody starting work in March will not have "matured" or "earned" the full yearly amount of anything.

Re: Contratto Commercio Question

From what I can remember, the tredecesima and the quattordicesima are connected to how many months you have worked. The 13th is paid in December and the 14th is paid in July.

If you start work on...

Re: 50cc Scooter/Motorino

You're welcome, but you're right. Whilst here on holiday they won't be able to just jump on a scooter and ride around. Good luck with your retirement plans.

Re: 50cc Scooter/Motorino

My 15 year old is now driving around on a 50cc Aprilia and you do have to have a license which involves signing up at driving school and going to the classes to study and learn the theory/road signs...

Re: Goggle box- anything worth watching on TV?

Thanks. Sounds like it will be something different and I usually like stuff that's about true events.

Re: Solicitors in italy

If I'm not mistaken, the company you mentioned was banned from this website years ago. If not banned, they were certainly discussed and not favourably.

Re: Goggle box- anything worth watching on TV?

Something called "Chernobyl" is being advertised on Sky Italia as coming soon (June) ...... but I know that my USA friends are already watching it. Any good?

Re: HAPPY HOUR

Earlier tonight I was driving home on fairly, quiet, residential streets when I saw a black, shadowy herd of something in the road. Getting a little closer, I could see that the herd was a group of...

Re: Bilingual School in Turin

Hello. Hope your move went smoothly. How are you all finding life in Italy so far?
I don't think we currently have any members in Turin with children of primary school age. We used to do but her...

Re: The Comfort Zone. Favourite food, drinks, where to buy, and recipes.

My fry up MUST have real, nice bacon. I can live without Heinz beans, but good bacon is just scrummy.

Re: The Comfort Zone. Favourite food, drinks, where to buy, and recipes.

Tofu is just a whole lot of nothing unless marinated or spiced up and lots of flavour added to it. It would probably work better in stir fry.

Re: help with citizenship

Did you tell your 'comune' that you were leaving and moving back to the UK or are you still registered there as a resident? You're supposed to live here and be resident here to apply for citizenship...
