Re: Bachelors Degree

Just buy one online...that seems to do the trick / (And yes this is a joke but there was some market place documentary showing how a ton of 'professions' including a university professor had one)

Re: PR Landing

I honestly wouldnt bother paying to move onto another flight. If you miss your connection, they’ll just automatically move you onto the next flight anyway free of charge. Vancouver is pretty quick to...

If you have an American Express, they’ll open up one for you in the UK as well.

Re: Passing on British citizenship

As the above has mentioned the Ancestry visa is the best way to go. It's also worth pointing out in case you didn't realise, but your also a Canadian citizen.

Re: British living in Ontario...thinking of moving out west

I wouldn't say thats particularly true, although 'Canadians like to employ any white western country (preferably who's a native English speaker) national first' may be more accurate with certain...

Re: documented needed to come into canada from vacation

Yeah they are a bit awkward to read the PR cards. picture has to be in the bottom right and face down. Some global entry and APC kiosks in the US (made by the same manufacturer) also have the same...

Re: Home for Christmas whilst PR is processed?

If you hold a work or study permit, then your 99% likely to be fine re-entering Canada, if you don't I wouldn't risk it.

Re: Canadian Passport

Not by an airline. An expired passport is still proof of citizenship at the border though.

Re: Trip to UK - Logistic advice

Have a look at https://www.insuredaily.co.uk/quote if you want to get insurance on a borrowed UK car, but beware it can be a bit pricy

Re: When did your relationship with UK friends and family start to fade

I'm always amazed at the lack of knowledge that many Brits have of North America (And especially Canada). It seems like a lot people don't know things I knew when I was about 5 years old! I've been...

Re: At what stage do i get my IEC visa?

I believe YYC is the one exception for WestJet (makes sense as its their main hub), as long as it comes from one of the approved countries baggage goes straight through to the destination. You also...

Re: Dear Canada Post, We Need To Talk.

In Calgary, I would probably be getting those in the next couple of days. I generally find things take around 20-25 to arrive from the UK. Once a while, mail will arrive very quickly (recently some...

Re: ACRO - inadmissible?

If you were under 18 on the first one, then it wouldn't count anyway and the second one won't make you inadmissible.

Re: Moving back to the uk on an Australian passport

Especially for some Expats who literally visit the UK once every 10 years, its pretty much pointless (and a waste of money) having a British passport.

Re: Moving back to the uk on an Australian passport

Out of interest, did you give them your old British passport and BC all together with your Canadian passport or until they asked?

Re: Moving back to the uk on an Australian passport

Whatever entry clearance officer you spoke to was spouting BS (not that it surprises me). Especially if your not moving to the UK and just visiting, there's no requirement to do so.

He/she also...

Re: Diabetes and Canada

You can always apply for Alberta Blue Cross for $60 ish dollars a month and it covers pre existing conditions. It covers around 80% of prescriptions.

Re: Moving back to the uk on an Australian passport

That's not really true. British Citizens have the absolute right to enter the UK no matter what.

While its helpful to have a valid British passport, an expired British passport, birth certificate...

Re: Thanks and a note about AmEx

I can also recommend this. When I moved to Canada from the UK, they gave me a very high limit and it boosted my credit immensely. Until last year they reported the opening date as the original...
