Re: Putting Dates in the Diary

Nah the building take care of the cleaning after we're out. Or I can organise myself and have them let the cleaner in. The building staff are pretty good like that.

Putting Dates in the Diary

This is a very practical question, but I wonder if anyone had any experience recommendations when it came to organzing moving day?

I'm trying to find a plan that minimises disruption whilst taking...

Re: EAD no longer required for L2 holders

Yeh that makes sense.

My wife's EAD expired in October and thankfully the 180 day auto-extension will allow her to return to work.

Unfortunately this settlement doesn't solve the looming bigger...

Re: EAD no longer required for L2 holders

It's official now.

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-10-part-b-chapter-2

Worth pointing out that the implementation of this isn't immediate as CBP still need to amend the I-94s of L2...

Re: Travel restrictions to be removed in November

This is wonderful news.

My parents-in-law have been waiting to visit since Sep 2019 when Thomas Cook went bust.

They've had to reschedule dozens of times due to Covid and it looked like they...

Re: Returning to the UK with newborn

It's the timeframe I'm mainly concerned about. There really isn't a lot of time between the birth and our departure perhaps 16 weeks.

I was prioritising the American passport mainly for speed...

Returning to the UK with newborn

My wife and I are having our first child in the USA shortly, and then we'll be returning to the UK permanently at the beginning of next year.

The baby will be a British citizen but we'll probably...

Re: Shipping insurance

Do you have any recommendations for shippers?

We're planning a move back from NYC to London and looking for someone who can just take care of it all for us.

Re: Enter the Wokeness

American poos are softer and more flexible due to the high-fructose corn syrup so they can make sharper turns in the pipes.

Re: Returning to London from NYC.

Tell me about it! It really has flown by! I can remember sitting down at my old office in London to write my initial post like it was yesterday.

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

That is exactly what you said.

With "It was available to some places and not others" you are literally suggesting that the NZ approach was an option available to other countries who chose not to...

Re: Returning to London from NYC.

Specifically I'm thinking passport applications. We're expecting a baby in October and due to leave the US in Feb. Should I prioritise applying for UK or US passport, or both?
Tax implications, will...

Returning to London from NYC.

My wife and I are looking at returning to the UK in February 2022 after 5 years in NYC.

I've started putting my To Do list together but I wondered if anyone could recommend a quick guide I could...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Characterising NZ as somehow more enlightened in its response to Covid is a stretch.

NZ's success is largely an accident of geography.

The virus was much less widespread there to begin with...

Re: Enter the Wokeness

In this example the person iun question was not fired for refusing to accomodate multiple pronouns so I'm not sure it's relevance.

Was he fired?

Re: Enter the Wokeness

If it's not about the effort what's your actual problem with it? What's wrong with requiring people to put a gender notation if it creates a more inclusive working environment for more people?

Re: Enter the Wokeness

Who has suggested firing university lecturers for being unable to accommodate 100 different pronouns?

It seems like you are arguing a point that has not been made.

Re: Enter the Wokeness

Well now we're normalising explicitly telling people. Like in email signatures. Which makes it easier.

Why would I consider an imaginary hypothetical scenario when we could just consider the...

Re: Enter the Wokeness

You check pronouns anyway. I presume up until this point you haven't just been guessing whether someone is a him or a her? You've done the work to check somehow, probably by inferring it from their...

Re: Enter the Wokeness

I put my preferred pronouns (he/him) on the end of my email signature. I'm one of the 99% of people who would consider their pronouns obvious. But I work with someone doesn't.

Through the simple...

Re: 1900 - 2021

Imagine being born during the Paelolithic Era in Northern Spain.
At the age of 5 you cut your finger on a sharp piece of rock,
contracted Tetanus and died.
Maybe it's time to be less selfish, stop...
