Re: Renewing British Passport from Australia

Saying that the UK will be fine due to brexit makes about as much sense as someone having a healthy leg amputated for no reason. Just a leg after all, they'll still be able to move around. No biggie,...

Re: Renewing British Passport from Australia

Yup. It's almost painful to watch, especially nowadays when people are figuring out that Brexit was just a huge scam to put certain people in power. :)

The good thing about the passport process is...

Re: Renewing British Passport from Australia

The self-destructive effect of Brexit will be felt (or in fact already is) in many, many areas but passports should still operate as usual simply because documents tend to breeze through customs...

Re: Renewing British Passport from Australia

Hi, no prob, I will let you know how it goes. :)

Re: Renewing British Passport from Australia

Turns out that everything can be done online and that only the identity confirmation needs to be done via paper in my case.

The whole setup is kinda cool because the regular photos are no longer...

Re: Renewing British Passport from Australia

Thanks BiP, I just had a chat with HMPO and their official line was that if the person doing the confirmation doesn't reside in the UK then they cannot do it online and I need to go the paper route....

Re: Is previous residency card invalid on Jan 1st 2021 due to brexit?

Many thanks, I have a current residency permit valid until 2023 but if things get messy in the UK (as they have been in recent times regarding practically everything) then it looks like I'll need to...

Re: Invoicing your own UK Ltd co as Autonomo?

Mainly because it's super-efficient (no tax exposure if you have no UK clients) and super-legit because you are a UK entity. Sure beats Mauritius...

Generally speaking it's a great structure if...

Re: Invoicing your own UK Ltd co as Autonomo?

It can make a huge impact in certain situations, such as if you have no UK customers. In this case you could opt for a UK LLP which will in turn have no tax exposure in the UK, even though it will be...

Re: Invoicing your own UK Ltd co as Autonomo?

I don't know how it works in the UK specifically, but you might also have the option of "directors fees" (and of course dividends).

Right now the big question is where are the CUSTOMERS based?...

Re: Invoicing your own UK Ltd co as Autonomo?

Simon, you haven't mentioned one important aspect: where are your customers based? Depending on the answer you might be able to convert to a LLP to save a lot of hassle.

Is previous residency card invalid on Jan 1st 2021 due to brexit?

I know that current card holders have been asked to come in on certain dates and fill in additional documents, but where do we stand if we do nothing but still hold the previous residency card that...

Pulaski, I'm strictly asking about the online confirmation option.

On the official gov't website it is stated that only UK/Irish citizens can do this and on top of that only UK residents are...

This is marvelous news, and completely unexpected given the website wasn't very helpful. Is this 100% because I don't want to put someone in a very tough and uncomfortable place if they get contacted...

Re: VPN for BBC iplayer

Some sort of DNS spoofer is probably the way forward as the connection is direct, unlike with a VPN which actually does channel traffic physically.

If there's a way to test my old (aka "lifetime")...

Re: Any forex/currency geeks out there? (GBP/AUD)

I think the only way to seriously invest in currencies is to do it in the long-term. Day-trading or "get rich quick' forex schemes are the worst. Short-term volatility and/or unpredictability make it...

Re: VPN for BBC iplayer

TunnelBear is free to try, and although the free version doesn't give you that much data at least you can give it a go before committing.

Overplay DNS has been around for absolute ages so they...
