Re: Locations

All the poultry mentioned above was probably acquired on the spot.
I was thinking along the lines of importing British hens into a EU country, if that was the OP's intention..... There are...

Re: French Tax return time

If you make an appointment at the Tax Office, you explain beforehand that it's for physical help in making the Déclaration on-line. They take the anticipated time into account for their other RVs.......

Re: Locations

Sorry I can't help with your query....
Just to clarify, are you planning to bring your hens to Portugal? If so, you should check the EU-regulations on importing live poultry....

Re: French Tax return time

The one time I made an appointment at the tax office (the year when I had to declare our joint income before OH's death and my income afterwards, in two separate declarations), we did everything...

Re: French Tax return time

When OH was around, I seem to recollect that it turned out less stressful (all things being relative) to fill in the Annexes first - we (even OH) were always afraid that we'd never get back to the...

Re: Winter in the South of France

Couldn't have put it better! The OP is hardly likely to rent somewhere in the Quartiers Nord.... (if they choose Marseille, that is.)
(I've been to MRS quite often, in all seasons except for the...

Re: Winter in the South of France

I concur! I live in the Languedoc, and winters are often perishing cold and/or rainy. The infamous Tramontane (cousin to the Mistral) can also be a problem, not to mention what they call "Cévénol...

Re: Tax on rentals for non residents

Hi, and welcome to the forum!
Whatever taxes/charges you'd have to pay on the income, you'd need some one trustworthy on the spot to give the keys, cope with practical problems, and clean the...

Re: France Trip

You assume right. Even if the regulations have eased (I haven't shown mine for ages, not even in trains/hotels/polling stations), you never know when it might be required between now and then. Take...

Re: Passport Renewal

Well done!
How much does a renewed Passport cost nowadays? A French one costs 86€ and is applied for at the nearest Mairie which has the necessary equipment, although you must buy the Timbre...

Re: Tax on UK pension when living in France

@ Bazzer Whatever and wherever tax is paid, remember that all world-wide income must be declared in France. As suggested, when the time comes to make your first declaration (on paper), don't pay an...

Re: Wordle

For the record, I tried the "unlimited" version in French and managed two running, but it was an uphill struggle and too long to enjoy doing. Feedback from Mme tp would be welcome!;)

I usually put a word with 3 vowels in the first line (sometimes even adieu),...

Wordle

I lurk on other forums and have noticed long threads on Wordle.
I've become addicted to it, and have found a site which allows you to play for as long as you want. Not just one word per day, which...

Re: Simple cremations both Spain and UK

Thanks for clarifying.
So, although it doesn't help the OP to decide about a Funeral Plan, it would help them to know whether Spain has the same Succession and post-death procedures as France -...

Re: Putting a shower unit in the kitchen

DD1 lived temporarily in a small appartment where the shower unit was in the kitchen. No problem if you live alone, but showers need to be programmed if there are more than one of you!

Re: Simple cremations both Spain and UK

French Wills don't have an executor, it's the Notaire who deals with the Succession. If a client suddenly asks a French bank to add another holder to their account, it would want a lot of details...

Re: Vendée or Sarlat-la-Canéda

+1
Which part(s) of the Vendée attract you? Bear in mind the coastal flooding (e.g. Xynthia and la Faute-sur-Mer),and the Marais Poitevin inland, although beautiful, must be vulnerable to...
