Re: Tax on Pensions in Italy

Interesting how the state/government pension combination would be impacted. In the UK the deduction of tax for the state element is achieved by reducing your tax allowance (tax code) on other income...

Re: Long Term Parking at Catania Airport

Google maps indicates the train (regional), but you could try Rome2Rio here (https://www.rome2rio.com/) also. I know how expensive a taxi is/would be, but I would not rule it out, but better still...

Re: Tax on Pensions in Italy

The AdE would expect you to "argue" , that's why they arrive at 5 in the morning mob-handed and armed. The DTA here...

Re: Tax on Pensions in Italy

Surely not possible to receive it gross!
Anyway, The first thing I would ask myself is would I really want to argue the point with HMRC, let alone AdE with my Italian knowledge. Listen Very...

Re: Bulgaria and Poland without Russian gas, Italy next?

The pandemic showed they can do amazing things when under pressure. Time to really put all of our efforts into alternative power.

Re: Cheap Mobile Phone Operators

If it's a contract, behopes it's not still as bad getting out of it! Italy when we were last there was going the way of the UK i.e. you really have to move around to get the "new customer" deal. They...

Re: UK freesat box?

Does the tv have an active HDMI socket? If so the firestick option will work, but there are others out there A usb port would also be handy but can be wire-powered remotely. Here in the UK, even with...

Re: Visiting Lucca

Not only the area, but down to the person selling, some want what they are asking for (regardless!) , some you can insult by offering too little and some just try it on and will sell for a lot, lot...

Re: Visiting Lucca

That in itself should tell you something. We looked for almost 2 years before we bought back in 2011 and kept details of the houses, some of the first were still on sale when we bought. But more to...

Re: Visiting Lucca

Ruth & Mark you have looked at properties online? We used Rightmove to ID agents, looked them up online and used their websites and Rightmove information to find out exactly where they were located....

Re: UK freesat box?

I'm sure I've read before that a UK decoder would not work in Italy, but things change or I might have it wrong. Would a firestick or chromecast or other tv device not be a better option if your...

Re: Visiting Lucca

I guess a lot is the same for both places even though they are very different, which we have found to be the case for all the regions of Italy we have visited. Nearest we have been to Lucca is to go...

Re: Visiting Lucca

Ha! I never read they were interested in Pescara, but saw it as the equivalent of going the Pisa to see/visit Lucca or the Lucca area ! So yes, perhaps we need more info.

Re: Pasta, Flour and Grains.

Inflation is running over 5% throughout most of Europe, this will double within month if things stay as they are, let alone get any worse! Here in the UK lower value food items are rocketing 10-20%...

Re: The Comfort Zone. Favourite food, drinks, where to buy, and recipes.

We are here in the Uk and my brother told me it was Italian week , but they had little of it.... I wonder if this is a case of supply issues throughout. We are finding lots of our normal food stuff...

Re: Buying in Italy after Brexit ?

We often don't think about alternatives like this. You could get a lot of visits for the price of buying a house and having to maintain it. We were even thinking of a 4 year rental whereby we would...

Re: Buying in Italy after Brexit ?

Sounds very exciting, so don’t be totally put off….

Re: Has Covid also become a British expat?
