Re: Laptop recommendations?

I'm not too worried about weight. The Macs are getting old and still require Virtual PC to run windows (which is next to useless). I'm finding it hard to justify Mac prices now.
Battery life is a...

Re: American Citizenship

No matter how many fancy passports I collect, I'll always be British. Getting citizenship gets the BCIS off your back, makes it harder to get deported, makes buying guns easier and you get the best...

Question Taking dogs on holiday back in the UK

Someone here must have done this! We dont have a dog yet but will eventually, and since I've never travelled with one I thought I'd ask how hard it is. I think I understand the air travel bit, but...

Re: Not Sure if I can Deal with the American Dream much longer

7 years in and I still feel like david attenborough studying these strange americans sometimes. I make the bets of things by not watching US TV news or any political 'talk' shows. I stay up to date...

Question Foreign accents

Try as we might, I'm sure a lot of the returning expats have picked up an accent over time. Has anyone experienced problems (other than a little piss-taking) because of it?
Moving on from that, how...

Re: How to get credit rating in UK...whilst elsewhere!

Does a UK bank account, savings account and (rarely used) credit card count towards a credit rating while you're away? Or does it only start with the electoral roll?

Re: Is 32 too old for start a career?

Those who went back to university (presumably in the UK?) - are there any grants available to mature students or is this something you need to self-finance?

Re: Big and bold

Leaving the UK is a step into the unknown, and everyone can see its an adventure, but returning looks like a step backwards to those who know you (because it doesnt sound like much of an adventure...

Re: 4 baking potatoes. Publix: 2.89 + tax. Tesco: 69p.

The crap that passes for food in texas produce depts is amazing. Prices in the UK over christmas were pleasantly surprising to say the least (and the quality!).

Re: Those who got their citizenship before returning...

This is more out of interest than anything, but it would be useful to know if I have a sudden urge to go back and dont want to wait for the passport application.

I understand it is technically illegal to try to enter the US on a UK passport if you are a US citizen. Is it also illegal to leave the US on a UK passort? I'm not really sure what the problem is, as...
