Re: 220 devices for use of 110 volt?

It's a Sony micro stereo system, consisting of two speaker boxes and one CD player, just to clarify.

Thanks for all the answers. I did some research as well. It depends on the Watt, so the stereo...

220 devices for use of 110 volt?

Just wondering, with a converter or transformer, is it ok to bring a stereo system or a microwave, both for 220 volt to Canada?

Did anybody try this? Or is this completely unadvisable?

Re: Energy Prices In Ireland

Even though the natural gas prices are down to pre-Ukraine-war levels, prices aren't passed on to the consumer at the same pace. Does anybody know why this is the case?

Re: Toronto airport

There is possibly more travel chaos coming down the pike for Toronto airport if they demand pre arrival testing again, due to the situation in China.
This won't stop the virus, but it's again, a...

Re: Military Check

It's interesting to note that military checks are subject to EU membership of the citizen needing it, but not to NATO membership. The latter would make more sense.

Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?

That's the interesting part now. A VW Golf mark 3, petrol engine, manufactured in 1995 with a Euro 2 emission norm would get:

- a Green badge in Germany allowing to drive anywhere in any city in...

Re: moving back from USA to UK - any regrets?

I think the US is no place for somebody who was born and bred in Europe and nearing retirement. One simply misses the culture and history of the old world. The US is however a good place to make...

Re: 2 year ban on non Canadians buying property

You were right to ask. I also found it confusing the way it was reported in the media. It felt one had to be a Canadian citizen as the only requirement to buy. It doesn't make any sense for a PR...

Re: Toronto Homicides

Toronto changed too much to the negative.

It was good back in the days when it was a boring place with a huge parking lot at the lakefront. Now it's unaffordable, constantly getting bigger and...

Aqua Vetro Tower in Dublin?

Is anybody in Dublin? Just wondering is this building ever going to be built? Apparently it's approved but nothing is happening on the construction site.

Re: Driving in France, emission zones and the new Crit Air vignette system

I think so far Paris is the only city having exemptions for a vehicule de collection of whatever make or manufacturer. Apparently, they also accept other European historical registrations and license...

Re: Driving in France, emission zones and the new Crit Air vignette system

It's probably bureaucrats deciding on something they don't really understand anyway. But in the end, it's a law, it's obligatory, and if not complying it's a fine and it certainly doesn't save the...

Re: Driving in France, emission zones and the new Crit Air vignette system

I am just trying to understand it.

I take it, all cars manufactured before 1997 are to disappear from certain designated "zones".

Re: Driving in France, emission zones and the new Crit Air vignette system

Thanks for that. Oddly, it seems, it's the manufacture date of the car, rather then the Euro emission class which decides if one get's the Crit Air certificate or not.

Cars manufactured before...

Driving in France, emission zones and the new Crit Air vignette system

Regarding driving in France and the new emission zones as well as the new vignette system, I was wondering:

If I have a car, manufactured before 1997, I can't get any vignette? Meaning, I'd be...

Re: Finding a rental from UK

To avoid any scams, AirBnB in the beginning is not a wrong choice.
It gives the advantage of having the choice to look for something longer term in person, plus minimizes the risk of a scam.

Question about Hong Kong before 1997

I have one quick question, maybe somebody knows the answer to this:

I am wondering, could British Citizens work, study and live in Hong Kong before 1997 without any restrictions?

Re: Nokia 105 4G phone?

Thanks for your posting. I've done some research myself by now.

It would seem most Canadian carriers are using the Band 5 and 7 for LTE? At least Telus and Bell do seem to use 5 and 7? Thus...

I honestly would never dare to consider any changes to a rental property. I personally see a rental property as somebody else's property and only a temporary choice to me.
I also don't know if the...
