Re: Important Marmite news!

Wow, horseradish as well as Marmite. A double whammy. Now that's interesting. Our nearest Dealz is Bilbao, 40km away, but will make a note.
I have some horseradish plants I bought some time ago...

Re: Tarjeta Comunitaria/TIE/Driving licence

You normally have to hand in your UK one and then they issue you with a temporary one until the Spanish one arrives; with me it was about 2 weeks.

Re: British run farms in Spain?

The only ones I'm aware of are veg farms such as owned by Guy Shropshire. Google him. But he's pretty big.
I once applied for a farm manager's job near Ronda, a 600ha 'finca' owned by Zac Goldsmith,...

Re: Have you got your Eco sticker?

We bought a new Toyota hybrid 5 years ago and it came with its Ecosticker. Having said that, I see lots of new cars (L & M reg) that do not show any sticker at all, even some electric cars.
They...

Re: Is Imserso doomed?

We've never had much success with Inmserso. Moreover their competence in form filling leaves much to be desired. They got both our names completely wrong as well as the DND/NIE numbers.
We had more...

Re: Made me laugh

I refuse to believe you cannot grow them in Italy. Especially Vicenza.
Parsnips are the one seed that you cannot keep for next year. They just don't germinate! Need to buy new.
In Spanish they are...

Re: “justice, reparation and dignity”

I think the more people learn the truth about their history the better. Nearly all those who took part in the Civil war are dead or will be soon.
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned...

Re: More Spanish farmers ditching Olives....

Companies addresses are not difficult to find on the web
John Biffen told me trhat in the 1990's; thankfully communication was more reliable than the likes of Twitter.
Yes, companies say consumers...

Re: More Spanish farmers ditching Olives....

Too true.
I mean, strawberries in January, almost certainly from Huelva and equally certainly tasteless. What's the point?

Re: More Spanish farmers ditching Olives....

I think it always pays to write a letter to these companies. They do take note because so few people write these days....I mean a "proper" letter, biro or pen & ink!
I always remember our local...

Re: More Spanish farmers ditching Olives....

What really annoyed me yesterday in our local Eroski was that of the 3 different trays of avocados on display, only one was from Spain, the other 2 being from Colombia & Peru. Will write to them!

Re: More Spanish farmers ditching Olives....

It's a huge problem, but I think Gandhi still got it right. Whilst we in the comfortable West are relatively well off, it is at the expense of the poorer world. Primark, Apple, Zara to name only 3...

Re: More Spanish farmers ditching Olives....

No it wouldn't. China did it, but then they could because they're a dictatorship.
As Gandhi said:
"on earth there are enough resources for all, but not for the greed of a few. It's greed that...

Re: More Spanish farmers ditching Olives....

You're right about the need for a national grid.
Unfortunately I think it'll take more than one year's scorching weather to change the narrow minded short term thinking in government. There are...

Re: Why 70% of Spain is Empty

True. Humans seem to have a great capacity to damage the environment at any cost. Farmers have always understood the land they try to earn a living from, but these days, farming is not so attractive...
