Re: Gout

Allopurinol is quite the miracle drug in my gouty experience, but it does take a while to take effect - for me more than 9 months, during which joint inflammation got worse and more widespread....

Re: Robocop comes to San Francisco

It appears that these killer robots are made in Coventry. I think it would be a nice touch to outfit the killer robot in a Hillman Minx body. Then we could see the city cleaned up by menacing Hillman...

Running out of room here and thinking a bigger truck may be needed. Any advice?

Re: What All Considering Becoming Expats Should Consider

Can we please return to the original posit - it's really quite simple.
Expat for less than 12 months = FAIL.

Re: What All Considering Becoming Expats Should Consider

I'd like to see some clarification on what constitutes expat failure. OP defined this failure as expatting for less than 12 months, but now we seem to be veering into "failure = feeling unhappy"....

Re: What All Considering Becoming Expats Should Consider

I quite like this new 'failed / passed' qualification for expats. Although the 12 month period for fail / pass seems a bit arbitrary.

Perhaps there should be separate forums for failed and passed...

Re: US health insurance

The marketing blurb from the Medicare Advantage Plan offered a $50 gift card for completing a colonoscopy. Instead of this, we received a bill for $275. Well, when I say "we", I mean wife as I am too...

Re: US health insurance

Same issue here. Our Medicare Advantage Plan not only offers free colonoscopies, they have monetary promotions to go get colonoscopied. So the wife was volunteered for a colonoscopy (I did not...

Re: Coronavirus

It's Mask Back On Again Day here this Friday. That bulk purchase of disposable masks will not be wasted.

Re: What do you know?!

If you want to feel accepted and avoid those unsaid underlying tones, get down to your local biker bar. A few beers and shooting some pool will result in politeness being discarded and some...

Re: How can I make a good cheese and onion sandwich.

A helpful article using scientific evidence to quantify the optimal amount of cheese to put in the sandwich for several types of cheese. Unfortunately no experimental data was gathered for the...

Re: How can I make a good cheese and onion sandwich.

I don't think you are asking quite the right question. It should be "How can I make a good ploughman's lunch with ale?"

Re: For Amazon device users

If I understand this article correctly, the Alexa I recently purchased to locate the cat (Alexa hasn't a clue) will now resort to strutting the sidewalk and getting promiscuous with the neighbours. ...

Re: Prescription eyeglasses

I tried progressives years ago, but was not impressed. Maybe things have changed since then.
My UK high street Boots wrote prescriptions for distance and reading, and on one visit I asked for an...

Re: Covid-19 Vaccination -- Have You Gotten It?

At school we were stabbed in the wrist with an instrument that left a circular pattern of 6 dots. A quick google shows up Heaf Test:

Re: Covid-19 Vaccination -- Have You Gotten It?

21 hours after receiving our 2nd Moderna jabs yesterday, and so far no ill-effects. The trouble and strife is complaining of a sore arm, but that is about the extent of it.

No waiting in line this...
