Re: Cost of Living - Ontario

Just to add to what’s been said, when on rural acreage, we didn’t get:

Re: Cost of Living - Ontario

It's not just major cities where property taxes can sting - my last home in Kamloops, BC (pop. c90,000) had a property tax of $8,000 p/a. Living rurally outside of city limits was far more affordable...

Re: Looking to move from Midlands UK too New Brunswick Canada

I moved over as a tourist and purchased property to run a business from and a home to live in. Spent several months renovating the property to get it ready for trading, then went to the US/Canadian...

Re: LMIA exempt and Owner Operator

Replied to your PM - here's the same info for anyone else contemplating the same route.

Not sure if this'll be much help as it was 15+ years ago when I emigrated, but this is the process I took:

Re: Moving to Kamloops, BC

Watch for commercial/residential zoning restrictions. You’ll need a LOT of space. Horse owners rigs (truck/trailer) take up large parking areas. Acreage is modestly priced out of city limits where...

Re: Moving to Kamloops, BC

There are essentially 2 types of horse owners, those that have their own acreage and access an equestrian facility for coaching or competition, and those that board 12mths of the year.

Without...

Re: Moving to Kamloops, BC

Hello 👋

Lots of equestrian opportunities in and around Kamloops. I owned what’s now called Sun Meadows equestrian centre in Barnhartvale, a community of medium to larger sized acreages.

Spent...

Re: Top Reasons to Move (and Not Move) to Canada

Re: Moving back to UK - buying a house (Question)

I'd been overseas for 15 years, so no credit rating in the UK. I think finding a decent broker is the way to go - my 5yr fixed rate mortgage was only 0.25% above the best offers that were available...

Re: Costs of emigrating - 2020

There are many less immediately obvious costs associated with emigrating too:
