Re: Quick q for Ontario family drs

But probably most of his patients were rostered with him, and you got the email that was generated for all of his patients. The admin probably didn’t go through the system to find out the patients...

Re: Quick q for Ontario family drs

I doubt you were rostered then, and he wasn’t getting a fee for you. They’re just letting you know he’s retiring. It’s a curtesy.

Re: Quick q for Ontario family drs

So is the aviation doctor working as part of a FHT? Doctors that are part of a FHT will get paid a fee for having patients rostered. However, you can only be rostered with one doctor with the...

Re: Emigrating and medication advice

But you would have been offered Colon Screening in the UK. The UK offers a one off scope from the age of 55 then onto the kits from 60-74. Ontario offers the kits from 50+ but is only now moving onto...

Re: Moving to Canada as a nurse or skilled worker

When was the last time you worked clinically? How are you maintaining nursing registration in the UK? I just ask as these questions are relevant to the nursing process in provinces in Canada.

Re: Approximately how much should I expect to spend as a UK GP planning the move

You should consider Northern Ontario. You don’t have to go more than two hours from Toronto to be considered Northen Ontario. There are considerable financial benefits to working up here, and you...

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

The UK has powered itself for two weeks on renewable energy, not used coal at all, which is amazing. Solar and wind energy.

That would be the end goal for us, solar panels, electric car.

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

Yeah, I don’t know of any kids my son’s age on Facebook. It’s definitely an older generation thing. Instagram, Snapchat, is where the teens are at. I think there are a lot of young people engaged...

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

Too cynical, hopefully? Although that picture of the queue on Everest sums up everything that is wrong in our self obsessed world. I just finished reading Sapiens which is pretty depressing in it’s...

You just summed up everything so perfectly. You said everything I think and do, but way better than I could.

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

Maybe we’ll have a new generation of children who don’t think the world is theirs to do with as they please? The youth of today are leading the way.

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

There just seems to be more at stake moving back than there was when we moved here. It would all be on me. What if son does horribly at GCSE’s because we loved him at a crucial point? What if? What...

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

Haha. A friend recently told me that the trick to photos is to always stand at the back. I’m just genuinely interested in the subject.

Funnily enough, my son has mentioned moving back to the UK...

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

I honestly don’t get the logic of:

Feel Homesick? Move to a different part of Canada!

It implies that Canada is the be all and end all and nowhere could be better. I also don’t understand why...

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

Nope, I’m worrying about as it’s a very real prospect for my children and grandchildren. I’ll be dead but they won’t be.

If you’re not scared, then you probably don’t know enough about it.

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..

I think his job in the UK would make him unhappy, rather than the UK itself. He’s a GP and would have to go back into the NHS (for how much longer?🤔) He’s willing to go though, it makes it worse,...

Re: Five years and homesickness increasing..
