Re: real estate prices in Canada sustainable?

There’s just such little supply in desirable areas, hardly anything is coming up and what does come up is snatched up. Housing is being built far too slowly and not meeting demand.

Re: Wine & Cheese lovers

Regarding red wine the active anti-aging ingredient is Resveratrol, which you can get as a supplement if you want to avoid the negative health consequences of alcohol.

Re: real estate prices in Canada sustainable?

Problem is depending on private landlords to provide rental housing, should be more government built and owned rental buildings.

Re: real estate prices in Canada sustainable?

Yes the BC welfare policy seems to be to sweep the impoverished out into rural towns which creates a whole slew of other problems.

Re: Canada Post

I’ve never had anything get lost or go missing, but they are very expensive, sometimes more than UPS or FedEx. One trick I did learn is that anyone can sign up for the Canada Post small business...

Re: Trump Trump Trump

Both left and right are pro-gun in the US, the entire US culture glorifies guns. Also whoever wins it's going to be ugly on the losing side.

Re: keeping old printed bank statements?

I kept physical statements and even paid the extra $2/month to have them mailed before I became a canadian citizen as proof of residency, but now I have no need to document it I just go with online...

Re: Vegetarian cheese

Most cheese here does say rennet on the ingredients label if it's included, so if it's not there, it is vegetarian cheese. Also the President's Choice branded cheeses (available at Real Canadian...

Re: To the polls BC goes.

Exactly right. I get the impression BC NDP are held in the centre by the large group of loudmouthed conservatives in the province. It's a shame in a way as I wish they were more left leaning, we...

Re: Trump Trump Trump

That's Trump's formula - go on Fox News to do an interview, or hold a rally or some press event, then claim to have done a ton of amazing things that he hasn't actually accomplished. I remember a...

Re: CRA website issues

I moved house and every time I try and change my address on the website it shows an error as well. It's been this way for months. Very frustrating.

Re: Legal Beagle in South Surrey BC

The realtor should have a lawyer/notary they can recommend that they've used before, however I've used Shergill Notary in Langley for my sale and purchase and both times they were excellent.

Re: real estate prices in Canada sustainable?

Problem at its core is intergenerational wealth. Low interest rates are basically a bandaid fix for that.

Re: Housing, BC and the federal liberals

That definitely isn't fair at all. Maybe it could be related to how building housing in BC is more difficult in general? With ALR land protections, slow approval processes and fragmented...

Re: What we driving in canada ? Any good deals (post covid)

That's so funny, we wanted to test drive the Kia Telluride (similar to Palisade as Hyundai and Kia are sister companies) but it was all sold out! So very similar to your story. They had one demo...

Re: What we driving in canada ? Any good deals (post covid)

Similar here! Just leased a Subaru Ascent. Best car I've ever driven, smooth ride, very quiet, comfortable and stupidly spacious. Needed the space as we have a live-in parent (mother in law) plus a...

Re: Any truth to this blog post?

Not really true, I bought my car, a mid-2000s Honda Civic, for about $5000. The BS part is the fact you have to pay sales tax on used cars.

Re: Banking problem, UK cheque to Canadian bank

Your relative was very irresponsible to report it lost/stolen then go on to write cheques with that book after it turned up. What else could the bank do? Now you’ve been punished with an NSF fee from...

Re: real estate prices in Canada sustainable?

Lots of reasons why it's this way
- Interest rates are very low, 1.89%/1.99% mortgages are available now, that makes the interest on a house actually close to or lower than inflation in real-money...

Re: Who oh why

Re: Who oh why

In regards to racism, there is an undercurrent of white supremacy. A portion of Canadians sadly see Canada and the major cities within it as white with the other ethnicities as guests, even First...

Re: Should BC consider a name change?

It is horrendously outdated and colonial. I’d be on board with something new. Getting people to accept change is difficult though.

Re: Our JSmith 321 is moving from Vancouver

Good luck on the move! Vancouver is pretty brutal for it's cost of living, so that is wonderful you were able to find more support and opportunities in Kelowna. I hope you can build a great life for...

Re: Ordering British food online

I used https://www.britishcornershop.co.uk/ and it wasn't too bad, but it took a very long time to arrive, with no tracking. The prices are a bit higher than in your average UK supermarket too.
