Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

As unlikely as it seems, you’re not.

I know, I know. We were all as shocked as you. Don’t worry, it’s still easy in the season, the league table means nothing yet, you can still recover.

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

ASM can blow hot and cold. If he’s hot today I’m looking forward to him tearing a few new ones.

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

Why VAR, which is meant to assist, isn’t allowed to opine on the VVD tackle is beyond me. Should have been red.

And as for the offside? Not offside. How can they be sure they have frozen at...

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

I’ve not seen any fan in favour of this yet. I’m sure if I look not very hard on Twitter I could, but I have yet to see anything positive about it on a forum.

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

If yet more money comes into clubs, what happens to it? Does anyone not see it going to the players anyway?

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

Not only does this proposal trigger debates over which clubs should be considered England's biggest and therefore most powerful, it also raises legitimate concerns about how the nation's supposed...

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

The parachute payments are a bandage designed to cover the financial chasm between the leagues. I would support ditching the bandage if something can be done to address the financial issues -...

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

Your club are one of the antagonists, I’m sure your email will do nothing.

I also saw they would have a veto power over new owners - essentially an ability to prevent anyone else joining the...

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

Watching the WSL this morning. It’s refreshing to see the game played without all the diving and dissent at the referee.

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

Some of us have been playing with a back up keeper all season!

I’m actually pretty pleased with how Darlow has been doing - made some great saves vs Spurs which allowed us to get that jammy AF pen...

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

I didn’t see the Shaw tackle as a straight red. Nailed on yellow as it was late, cynical and intentional. But not stopping a goal scoring opportunity and not violent.

Wait, it was Luke Shaw. ...

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

They clearly need to be able to score more goals per game to make up for their defense, ergo signing Cavani makes perfect sense. Just make sure you can score 7 per game and all will be fine.

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

You’ve got the ability to go look at a pitch side monitor - why not go use it for such a decision in a crowd?

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

The use of pitch side reviews, and the “suggestions” being made to the refs to do so, seems to be helping, imo. I’ve watched about half the games so far this season, and overall it feels like it is...

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

VAR has actually been better used so far this season. I realize that doesn’t feel too difficult though.

Re: The 2020-21 Football Thread

Yeah our keeper was our best player on the pitch. The new way handball is being applied isn’t working. It’s not a VAR problem, it’s a rule problem.

Interesting start to the season. Liverpool look fallible. Arsenal looked assured. West Ham still look shite though.
