Re: Off topic Political Posts moved from Coronavirus thread

His Twitter 'handle' (or whatever it is called over there) says "Christian, Father, Speaker, and certified Chief of Police in GA. Conservative!". Separation indeed!

Re: Off topic Political Posts moved from Coronavirus thread

Speaking of police, here we have a 'police chief' quitting the force rather than getting the vaccine. He claims that 75% of the force quit with him. Someone posted this on Reddit, and the comments...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

No, I don't know the answer to your original question, which was "Does this mean that, if someone had Covid last year and then again this year, the second time is not included in the Covid count ?"

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Oh, I don't disagree at all. All I'm saying is, one has to have some sort of 'cut off' when dealing with data like this. Maybe 6 months is the cutoff? 3 months?

Re: Enter the Wokeness

Overlooking for a moment the potential lack of any source validation, he did say "... the new Docents would get $25 an hour.". That is not inconsistent with the idea that the OLD docents were...

Re: President Trump.

Oh dear, it doesn't sound like things are going to return to normal in Arizona any time soon! One can only hope that this solid drift to the fringe will help Democrats win. Currently, AZ has a...

Re: Planespotting II

Only 21 people on board - that may have helped avoid casualties! I don't think I've ever been on a plane that empty!

ETA - it says 'VIP configuration' - I guess that means, corporate jet or...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

I wonder if the US will reconsider its plan to allow UK visitors as of Nov 8? Probably not, since the US is in worse shape than the UK!

Re: Enter the Wokeness

Ah, so I'm guessing that, as volunteers, they aren't protected by normal 'labor laws' and that's why this may not fall afoul of wrongful termination claims.

Yes, a phased approach would seem more...

Re: Enter the Wokeness

Hmmm... the page you're looking for isn't here. Try searching above.

I was going to give it a quick read to see if there was discussion about the legal aspect of this - looks like a goldmine of...

Re: President Trump.

Sounds like an effective way for some billionaire donor to have an impact ... I'd be happy to spend 6 months in Montana (to establish residency, etc) and then vote! I have several friends who've...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Well it certainly makes some sense that you don't count each positive test result as a 'covid case' - you could get tested every week and be positive again and again, but that shouldn't reflect as...

Re: CORONAVIRUS PART II

Not good news on the global vaccination front - lots of interesting information in this article, showing the missed deadlines for getting vaccines to 'the rest of the world'. If I recall correctly,...

Re: Planespotting II

I still have the green plastic 'luggage tag' I got from Alitalia back in the 90s attached to my main luggage. It serves as both a souvenir, and a rather unique identifier for my luggage! When I see...

Re: Climate change.

Yes, though it's not particularly easy. There are 'sprung' sliding doors and it's a bit of a challenge to hold both open at once, and it's a narrow passage. There's no facility to keep them open....

Re: Climate change.

BART has made significant efforts to accommodate both wheelchair users and cyclists, removing seats near doorways, installing straps for anchorage, etc. And it works quite well; LOTS of cyclists use...

Re: Enter the Wokeness

I lived in San Francisco in the 80s and 90s. I lived on Castro St, which was (and possibly still is) ground zero for the gay population. The devastating effects of AIDS was no longer at its peak, but...

Re: Climate change.

I'm not sure you appreciate the reality of commuting in a big city. I commuted into SF every day for 10 years on "BART" (bay area rapid transit). The trains are absolutely packed to the gills during...
