Re: Spouse visa for the states

Sounds sensible, especially taking into account the extortionate medical fees in Dublin. (I mean, London is a rip off too, but less so.)

Re: Spouse visa for the states

I know. I mentioned it with regard to this specific case because there has been confusion in this thread over whether Dublin processes immigrant visas, and I thought it worth emphasising the...

Re: Spouse visa for the states

If the OP does decide to interview in Dublin, he may want to check out the cost of the medical exam. According to the Visa Journey page for Dublin (which appears to be up to date) the panel physician...

Re: Spouse visa for the states

The Dublin website also indicates that it does process IV applications. It just doesn't accept I-130s anymore.

Re: Spouse visa for the states

I see, thanks :). Well then, based on what you said in the other thread about an applicant's home country always having the ability to interview them, it seems like the OP should be able to have his...

Re: If possible through work, otherwise through marriage?

Is there? I haven't looked at the I-129F, but I didn't remember that from when we filled out the I-130. Just had a quick scan of the form now and can't see it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just spotted it...

Re: Spouse visa for the states

According to this thread from a few days ago, Dublin apparently does: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=790470

But I guess it doesn't matter now since the I-130 has been filed DCF in...

Re: If possible through work, otherwise through marriage?

Just curious: why do you think it is preferable to have it in your home country? In most cases aren't applicants automatically assigned to the consulate responsible for where they live?

Re: Have you ever been overcharged...

I had this in a restaurant in Athens a couple of years ago, except the two different menus were printed on opposite sides of the same piece of card (albeit with the order mixed up a bit)! Luckily I...

Re: Married to a US Citizen, got a Job in NC

To the OP: Before the discussion of H1Bs goes any further, is that actually the work visa you would be getting? A lot of (junior) academics get J1s.

EDIT: When I asked about this issue here a few...

Re: Newbie!!! how to get a visa questions ):

Apparently you're the expert then, so I don't know why you would need to ask someone who grew up there (and who has a "lesser" accent and no religion) about it.

Bye :).

I broadly agree with you that knowing what you are getting into and having a positive attitude has a significant impact on what you get out of a place. I have certainly found that to be true in my...
