It depends on their ongoing flight number - I bellieve its a flight number >qf500 then they go to the domestic terminal - if its below 500 then they stay in the international terminal there are some...

My top tip is - Dont bring food or wooden items etc and you might score a fast-path exit :

When you get into immigration hall for baggage collection - then you have to get your bags , get sniffed...

when we came over it was very hard to get a view of what life was like because there are lots of people getting buy on 50k/100k family etc - thats not relevant as you said.. So you need to filter...

170k isnt a huge amount and would feel less than 100K GBP in london. Tax here is a lot higher - you need to take a serious look at the taxation element.

Are you moving within the same company?...
