Are you planning a trip abroad, and need a PR card to return to Canada? If not, there is no legal requirement to renew a PR card - the PR card is used for ID / travel - but you retain PR status...

Is she a Canadian Citizen or a PR holder? If she is a citizen and you have lived together 'as if married' (with proof) for a minimum of 12 consecutive months she could sponsor you as her common-law...
