Almost the last update for this thread. Our son had his visa and big white envelope delivered into his grandmother's hands on 4th July. There were no issues having it delivered there in his absence....

Some hotels offer park, stay and fly deals, where you can stay at the hotel before and/or after your trip, park your car in their car park and use their airport shuttle. As Chicago is not local to me...
