Re: I-864 Sponsor question

He did it correctly. The only immigrant he is sponsoring is your husband.

No, you won't put your father and his wife on your I-864.

He is called a "joint sponsor", not a second sponsor.

Re: A big thank you - progress - and a new question

It's not. It's the marriage that allows it.

What a fun thread! I have neither ducks nor dogs (nor snow), but I love looking at pictures of them!

Re: US GC - 2 year GC expires in Oct. - Whats next?

Please note that you MUST submit the I-751 during the 90 days just before your 2 year PR status expiration.

Re: visa approval - all good to go?

I personally would not tell that person to move until I have the visa in hand.

Re: visa approval - all good to go?

Verbal approval is a good indication, but of course nothing is 100% certain until you have the visa in hand.

Re: A big thank you - progress - and a new question

No, it is not OK to do this. Once you enter using the K-1, you cannot safely leave the USA until you have AP in hand. If you do leave the USA before having AP in hand, you would then need to start...

Re: A big thank you - progress - and a new question

1. After you enter the USA on the K-1, you must marry within 90 days and then apply for adjustment of status (AOS). Part of the AOS application includes filing for an Advanced Parole (AP) document...

Re: Moving to US Jan 2020. Need advice with finances

And what have you been doing since January 2019, and why are you not moving ASAP rather than waiting another year until January 2020?

Interesting that you maintain a US address but claim to never...

Re: Moving to US Jan 2020. Need advice with finances

It's a myth that visiting the USA once a year maintains PR status. I'd say you got lucky so far.

Re: Moving to US Jan 2020. Need advice with finances

Having a re-entry permit in and of itself does not guarantee maintenance of your PR status. You just admitted that you've never lived in the USA. In order to maintain PR status, the USA must be...

Re: HELP - Job Offer in US

Danny,

So far you've talked about "diplomas" but not "degrees". In the USA, a degree is usually required for work visas. If one does not have a degree, then years of experience can substitute. ...

Re: HELP - Job Offer in US

It can be a bloody pain getting a visa to the USA if you don't fit a very specific need or meet very specific criteria. It could still be possible, just depends on the circumstances. Yes, it will...

Re: Applying for residency from within US with dependent adult son?

Hi Calypso,

Your husband can sponsor you and your son (a USC stepfather can apply for a stepson). Your visa will be a spouse immigrant visa, category IR-1 (Immediate Relative 1), and if the I-130...

Re: HELP - Job Offer in US

Meaning they've agreed to file a petition towards a work visa for you. Now you just need to know which visa. The reason we're not going into your other questions is because without a visa, you won't...

Re: HELP - Job Offer in US

No, there is no way around the work visa. The only way for you to be in the USA right now is as a visitor, and as a visitor, you are not allowed to do any kind of work for which someone would...

Re: HELP - Job Offer in US

In a nutshell, no.

There is a temporary work visa, but it's for seasonal workers like farm labor or ski instructors, that type of thing.

Re: HELP - Job Offer in US

No idea without knowing more about the job. Doesn't seem like H1-B because that job must require a degree, and you must have a degree in that field (or 12 years experience), neither of which seems...

Re: HELP - Job Offer in US

It is up to the employer to file a petition for your work visa. There is nothing for you to do at this point except find out which visa it will be.

Once they have filed a petition and committed to...
