Re: Registering for OHIP

I don't know where you go from here - but I just wanted to say if you're forced to go to the Ministry of Health office more than once then you have my total sympathy.

I went to the one in...

Re: Sending your passports from Canada to London UK need advice !!!

Firstly, what the OH is saying sounds reasonable to me, but it's strange how CIC would condone this action. Be interesting to see what punishment you'd get if caught and found guilty.

Well - I...

Re: Sending your passports from Canada to London UK need advice !!!

You know what, it probably was $50 but I think i'm adding tax on. There's also an insurance policy I declined to take. We probably had the same service (some kind of envelope below a certain weight -...

Re: Sending your passports from Canada to London UK need advice !!!

Hello and welcome.

There's nothing technically wrong with what you intend to do (I did the same only I was already in the country when I became a visitor).

The only problem is when you arrive...

Re: A brave and modest country

Thanks Oakvillian.

I guess I should have thought more before my post - I didn't mean it as an anti-American post, I just used the wrong example to promote what I feel is good about Canada - as...

Re: A brave and modest country

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4881474.stm is the article that put that idea in my head... never heard it from anyone over here.

Re: A brave and modest country

One of the things I love about this country is the dignity and the unassuming way they go about things.

Compare this to our neighbours down below and the way their military chants, whoops,...

Re: Sending your passports from Canada to London UK need advice !!!

I sent my passport from Canada to the UK - I found UPS to be the cheapest, something like $60. I went to the nearest UPS store and it was in London the next day.

As for pics - for others reading...

Re: UK Student Loans

Well, this is why i'm just seeing what other people's experiences have been. Even though i'm confident they have bigger fish to fry, I'll probably end up paying (since i've paid something like 80%...

Re: UK Student Loans

PS - How are you assuming i'm not a decent tax payer?

I've paid enough in taxes and NI (which I never saw the benefits from) in my life to justify an action like this, even if it did affect the...

Re: UK Student Loans

I can understand your woes with BT - I worked for them!

I was always of the understanding that Student Loans aren't treated the same way as any regular civil debt - they don't get the heavies...

Re: car insurance

Hey Mrs Madmac

Who do you use for your insurance?

Still living in Guelph here, still paying $220 a month, still not found someone willing to take into account my UK clean history!

Cheers

UK Student Loans

Hey all

Ok, so my bank account in the UK runs dry next week, and i'm going to close it down. So no more student loan repayments.

I called them and asked what happens, and now I have to call the...

Re: Thoughts about returning

I've read this thread with interest...

I just wanted to try and add my thoughts.

I too live in Guelph, and have experienced this kind of rut first-hand.

I too worked in the UK in IT and...

Re: Air Transat...the good and the bad...

There used to be a difference between the charter brigade, but they're all about the same now. Cheap meal and pay for pop.

I first flew on Transat back in '98 and they've changed a lot for the...

Re: BA New baggage policy

They certainly don't seem to be able to put the same spin on it as a low-cost airline would!

I'm not sure exactly what the deal is, but whenever anything even slighly negative comes out about BA,...

Re: BA New baggage policy

You have to understand where BA are coming from on this...

Any given aircraft can only weigh so much. A LOT of revenue is generated from cargo in the hold. If everybody decides to check in 2-3...

Re: Refund not received after 6 months!

I got mine in December, landed July 23rd. Didn't have to send a form in for it, would told it would be automatic.

Frustrating thing #1: I called them about 2 months after landing to moan about...

Re: Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener/Waterloo???

I was at work today for 7am (going home in a min, woo!) and it wasn't hard.

I bet your colleagues pay a fortune for parking!

What worries me about taking the GO is that I have a friend who is a...

I've seen my fair share. Both involved and as a bystander (bydriver?). I have a private plate on my car now, so try and keep my interaction with fellow motorists to a minimum :)

Re: Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener/Waterloo???

Plus Guelph is spreading slowly nearer to the 401. Wal-Mart aside, there's no development at the north end, and yet they seem to be putting a new subdivision in the south end every day.

I know...

Re: Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener/Waterloo???

I started working here on Aug 14th. I work near the airport (427/401) so not as bad as working downtown, but I do have regular meetings in the financial core every so often, and the commute home then...
