Re: How does life in Canada compare to the UK

I don't think life in Canada can be compared easily to life in the UK. From the posts it is obvious that people were certainly not happy with their status in the UK and are certainly happier here but...

Re: Current Jobs on the North Shore of Nova Scotia, Truro, Oxford, Amherst,Tatamagouc

Val-I don't think you should say such things, after all even your partner got a job here in Nova Scotia and certainly my partner has no problem hiring people from the UK, Ireland and other European...

Re: Kings-edgehill school

Having had children going to both private/public and public/state schools both here in Canada and the UK I would definitely say if you can afford it go with the independent schools. No doubt I will...

Re: Who didnt like living in Nova Scotia?

Old Quebec city is exceptional and certainly reminds me of Europe but it does not have the British historical connection hence not like Halifax.

Re: Who didnt like living in Nova Scotia?

Your anti- Halifax comments always surprise me considering your posts about enjoying the history etc in Europe. I love coming into Hollis Street here with all the Georgian and Victorian properties-...

Re: Who didnt like living in Nova Scotia?

The one negative comment about Nova Scotia on this thread seems to be constantly that of a student's opinion- not very relevant actually dbd. My kids went to uni in Quebec and Ontario and none of...

Re: Anyone noticed...

Yep and all British Canadians I know- and quite a few- after reaching the age of 55 have moved to UK/Europe/Victoria/Vancouver. Nobody who has dual citizenship hangs out here in the cold winters- at...

Re: Yet another Engineering question... Sorry!

I believe that the HND/IEng qualification would give you a CET qualification in Canada- a Certified Engineering Technologist. It would also perhaps, depending on which province you are resident in,...

Not warmer in the vast majority of BC- only the very southern area and Vancouver Island. And there are plenty of jobs available in New Brunswick too.

Re: Which paint to use?

Certainly go to Home depot but please don't get Behr paints- plenty of class action suits against them in America and we also have had them repay us for the disaster their stain created on our deck....

Re: Look what came into our garden last night

If living in any semi urban area anywhere in Canada there are bears etc- even here in HRM. And in the city we have snakes- found a "lovely' black garter one in my garage a couple of years ago:eek:-...

Re: Canada in England

Yes, I have been there and lovely backing onto the New Forest -the horses are all around the area; it is basically a very small village area with, if I remember, one pub but nothing else.

Re: "The Worst Canadian"

Re: what's bad about Canada?

Re: The Church of Tim Hortons

Re: FROZEN Pensions - Action Needed

Absolutely. Canadian government treats its pensioners exactly the opposite of the UK government. Canadian citizens who have worked the required time for both pensions in Canada and the UK and retire...
